I wish I could upload .md
.markdown
files for translation/proofreading. For now, one must change their file format to txt
before processing, and convert them back.
Kagi Translate Feedback
That happens to me too, if Kagi Translate stays open in a tab for a long time and you go back to it, it stops working and you have to reload the page for it to work again.
I'd love for OCR to be introduced, so that I can upload screenshots or photos of text and translate directly.
Starting a text with something like 20/40 will cause the text not being translated at all. I think it's due to URL detection. I also noticed problems with texts that include email addresses. Could the page translation feature maybe move behind a button or in a separate field?

MonoMatrix Peter Could you share the console log after this happens?
Edit: we have pushed an hotfix for this, if it still happens - please do share the logs.

Clicking on a link in a translated web page just loads the base translate.kagi.com page instead of translating the linked page
It's inconvenient that I can't specify the target language in the bookmarklet URL from 2025-02-25. I'd like to know how to specify the target language using the bookmarklet in the new version.
Sometimes Kagi Translate cuts off the alternative translations:

BattleHawk Hey, could you be clearer about what you mean please?
Peter Fixed, thanks!
nichu42 Hey, this should also be fixed. Could you confirm?
Kagi Translate is good. It is way better than iOS Translate application (from my experience is the worst one).
In my efforts getting rid of Google, I already shifted to Kagi Translate. Quality of translations is fine. One piece of functionality I miss - display international transcription to find out proper pronunciation. Voice solves the problem by breaking the silence.
Is there any plan creating an application for iOS?
Even if I choose "Informal" in the settings, Kagi Translate still sometimes offers alternative translations in a quite formal and sophisticated tone. I tried to add a context that translations should be informal, but that didn't work either.
You can verify it via the hover info box which states, for example, that "This translation uses ... to provide a slightly more formal tone", even with the "Informal" setting:
Editing the URL already allows anyone to use anything as "from" and "to" languages. Why not make that into a fun feature?
How about a button that lets you add anything as a language that can be selected?
The main text field steals keyboard focus whenever the translation updates, which causes problems if you're trying to change the language after entering your starting text.
In this video, I enter "testing" and go to change the language, but the translation comes through partway through typing, so my next letter ends up in the main text box. I switch focus back to the language field and continue typing, but then the version of the translation including the spurious character comes back, and steals keyboard focus again, β¦ etc.
