I love the option to filter out AI images in image results, but it would be even better if I could set that as the default across all image searches, so I don't have to use the dropdown each time (similar to the options to change thumbnails and titles in video results)

A similar setting is already available for video results in Kagi under General > Video Search Settings

I agree on this one. If someone needs AI generated content, I expect them to look for an ai website or app to generate content.

Note that these images are downranked by default and appear at the end of the results page.
I will mark this thread as under review to gauge community interest in adding this setting.

Came here to suggest this. There's no reason not to have a permanent "AI Images" toggle in section OP screenshotted, ideally next to Image Safe Search. Downranking is appreciated, but needing to click the dropdown every time to ensure Kagi is actually REMOVING results is inconvenient.
As someone who needs to look for reference images often, this type of permanent toggle has become a necessity as the internet gets more and more flooded with generative slop.

Definitely agree. It is quite annoying to toggle this everytime I do an image search. I imagine anyone toggling the option to remove AI images will generally always want to do so unless otherwise specified.

I would like an option for users to choose exclude ai image by default. The new ai filter introduced is great. However, I don't want to click to exclude ai every time I search for image. An option to set it as default would be helpful.

Most users who don't want ai images would appreciate this, I believe. A small quality of life improvement, but it makes a big difference over time.

sleepysnooze I completely agree that this change would save time and effort (and enhance the user experience) for many users who prefer not to see AI-generated images in their searches. Thank you for your suggestion!

sleepysnooze Agreed, I absolutely love the new AI filter and use it on 100% of my searches! Such a handy option and would love to make it my default.

Merged 3 posts from Option to exclude ai image by default.

While AI images are currently downranked, some people probably want to have the 'ai images' option in image search to be set to disabled by default

Add a toggle switch to enable the AI filter by default for all image searches. Kagi already offers the ability to filter image search results by whether AI has been used to generate them. Currently, these filters are kept while searching in the same session, however reset when image search is opened in a new tab, window, etc. This means that any user that wants to avoid seeing AI generated images in their results has to manually set said filter every time.

The toggle switch would fit nicely under Settings --> General, next to similar options.

This could later be expanded upon to allow users to configure their defaults for every available image filter, e.g. only HD images, only from last year, what to order by, and so on.
