Hi, I'm really enjoying Kagi Translate! I'm running into an issue though. I'm struggling to translate the English word "rapport" into Simplified Chinese. In English, the word means "a relationship of mutual understanding or trust and agreement between people". However, Kagi Translate keeps trying to translate it as "report" instead.

I've tried adding "not report" as context, but that didn't help.

Kagi Translate is great. I would find it more usable if common languages were more accessible. It'd be easier if I could immediately spot my target language (e.g. Spanish) and tap on it.

Hanbyeol Thank you for the reply. I thought it made sense for a minute, but if I load one of their news articles (e.g. www.cna.com.tw/news/asoc/202503040325.aspx) with JavaScript disabled in my Orion browser, it renders fine. It doesn't seem to need JavaScript.

But if I try to translate that page (https://translate.kagi.com/translate/Chinese/en/www.cna.com.tw/news/asoc/202503040325.aspx), it still just yields a blank white page.

Ugh, apologies for the wrong guess.

I was also looking for sites from Taiwan and found a new bug.
It doesn't seem to automatically show a link to the website translator when I enter an IP address.

        e.g.
        https://101.101.101.101/index.html

Kagi translates UK to "Großbritannien" in German every time, which is incorrect.
          Great Britain = Großbritannien
          UK = Vereinigtes Königreich

Bug: copying multiline translated text with selecting + ctrl-v instead of the copy button strips the newlines. Though this was not the initial translation, I just used autodetect -> english with

            Example

            translation

Manually selecting the text on the right, and copying with ctrl-c copies

            Example translation

to the clipboard, instead of the expected

            Example

            translation

Using the dedicated copy button does work as intended, but ctrl-c really should work too. Weirdly, this is only a problem in the translation field, and not in the source field, where both selecting+ctrl-c works as intended.

I initially discovered this on a Norwegian->English translation, and the example I gave here can be reproduced with other languages as the target language as well (verified with danish and korean, because those required the least amount of effort to pick from the list :p)

In case it's relevant: only checked in Firefox 135.0.1 on Linux Mint 22.1

RoxyRoxyRoxy The Text alignment feature is back for Kagi Subscribers with better highlighting color in dark mode 🙂
We have also made translation history + the current settings accessible to all users, improved overall translation quality and lowered the opacity of original text while viewing both during website translation.

aminomancer Hey, thanks for the long comment. Here's what we've done:

              • Added the token parameter. If you use your Kagi Session token with it, you'll remain logged-in even in private mode.
              • Added parameters for the translation settings options. A complete URL could now look like: https://translate.kagi.com/?from=en&to=it&text=This+is+a+test.&style=literal&formality=more&speakerGender=neutral&addresseeGender=neutral&context=context+here&token={your_kagi_session_token}
We'll document this somewhere soon with all the parameters and their options.
              • Fixed the weird behavior you were encountering in private windows, so the error won't show up anymore.

u11a7w We have changed the romanization for those languages and looking into the TTS issue. Thanks!
randombyte Hey, we are aware of this issue and are looking into it.
yuzhe Hey, if I understand correctly what you're trying to say, you can share the translation by simply sharing the URL with someone else. As for the download button, we already have one in the output box. Would you like to see a dedicated button for sharing?
JW This is a weird one, we are looking into it 🙂
Marcin We now have a section at the top for the most used languages, thanks for the idea Marcin!
turly This should be fixed, let us know if it ever happens again!
Hanbyeol This should also be fixed
              nichu42 and this too 🙂
              julm We are investigating this.
LunarWatcher aand this should be fixed.
frin Translate's theme and localization will now be pulled from Kagi Search if you are logged in. Your custom css will also be applied if you have it set & enabled.

Phew, thank you all again for the helpful feedback!

Giorgio Translate login is broken, I'm logged out on translate.kagi.com and can't login.
Pressing "Log in" redirects me to the login page, which then redirects me to kagi.com after logging in there. If I then go to Translate again either by the browser address bar or the app picker I'm still logged out in Translate. Login seems fine on the rest of Kagi.

RoxyRoxyRoxy Could you try clearing your cookies for translate and seeing if it works then?
Edit: we can reproduce in some conditions, already on it.

Giorgio Lol I literally just shut off my PC so I’ll have to test that later, but I can reproduce it on Orion iOS so I’m guessing it’s not an issue with cookies.

I'm using dark mode all over. However, since today (yesterday?), Kagi translate opens in light mode, blinds me, and then turns dark.

I have a dedicated browser window open throughout the day for Kagi Translate. It works great for a while. But after some time it doesn't translate anymore. I need to reload the page to fix it.

I wish I could upload .md .markdown files for translation/proofreading. For now, one must change their file format to txt before processing, and convert them back.

                            Peter

That happens to me too, if Kagi Translate stays open in a tab for a long time and you go back to it, it stops working and you have to reload the page for it to work again.

I'd love for OCR to be introduced, so that I can upload screenshots or photos of text and translate directly.
