The standard-German (non-gender neutral) translation is the masculine form: Liebe Busfahrer
Nothing changes if I switch to "neutral".
Isn't this generic masculine in German? A mixed gender plural (or an unknown-gender singular) is a masculine in German, as far as I'm aware. It seems that the ‘neutral’ setting is working as intended in this context, and your context instruction to use ‘gender stars’ is a reasonable way to request a niche translation feature like this.
The translation settings are brilliant and very useful, especially where gendered speech (especially informal gendered speech) is a strong signal but not widely taught (e.g. in Japanese).
xorgy Not niche at all among the progressive part of German speakers. Not everyone likes it, many even oppose it, but it is widely used. But this isn't the place for discussions about the evolution of languages. Kagi is just a tool.

Adding suggestions based on the converstion on Discord. Some of these may have already been suggested. I am listing features that I use frequently in other translation tools. Could be interesting if Kagi implements some of these in the future.
Among the translation tools I tested out, I find two to be the most useful.
Immersive Translate:
- immersive translation within the original site
- comparing translation from several ai models (There are currently 27 models total. I mainly use DeepL, OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, and Zhipu 4 Plus)
- lens for translation - music, medical, financial, etc.
- subtitle translation while watching video. (It's in real time, but I believe the tool downloads the subtitle then translates it beforehand while the video is playing)
- image translation
- document translation (two level of complexity offered here)
- comic translation (not very good here)
- real-time input translation (This isn't the same as Kagi bookmarklet because you don't have to copy the translated text back to the input box. It basically translates any text I type in any input bar when I press spacebar quickly three times. I find this feature extremely useful since it allows me to be somewhat fluent in foreign languages in real time. I use this feature with Kagi search and Kagi Assistant all the time)
- auto translation in realtime (This is different from bookmarklet because it can translate new content in the original website in realtime including new text. For example, I can chat with Kagi Assistant using input in Japanese but get answers in English in realtime.)
- mouse over translation (Paragraph is translated when I mouse over it and press Ctrl. This is particularly useful with social media and video comments when I want to translate only a few sentences without leaving the page. Kagi Translate has a hard time translating X and Youtube for example.)
Ichigo Manga Translator:
- Translating comics (OCR) from Japanese, Chinese, Korean or English. Among the comic translation tools I've tried, this one is by far the best, both in term of language and output format. A lot of times, you can't tell that the translation isn't done by a translation group with editor.

@Giorgio can we get the ability to attach an image and have it translate? I live in a foreign country and often need to take a picture of a document and want to understand what it says.

First of all, thank you for supporting my native language (Korean).
However, I don't think it's a good idea to translate all the menus using machine translation.
I think it would be better to upload only the text that needs translation to the Localazy site and ask Kagi users to translate it.
As far as I know, "Kagi" should not be translated (probably because of trademark issues),
but it's translated here, too, as you can see in the image below.
Also some parts don't translate well. They just stay in English:

Giorgio The quality of the translations meanwhile is a different matter, if you think that the machine translations for the menus are low quality or don't make sense - we can reconsider.
Could you please reconsider this? because I believe that human review is needed, even when using AI to assist.
It looks like the footer has also been machine translated, rather than following the previous user-submitted translations.
For example, the AI transliterated the English word "Swag" as "스웨그" (Seu-weh-geu) in Hangeul. This is just a phonetic representation, and most Korean speakers would not know what this word means if they saw it. (In Korea, as in the West, some rap music uses the English word "swag" as is. But it's not a word that's used in common conversation.)
So I used to translate it into Korean as "기념품". You can think of it as something sold in shops at tourist attractions or theme parks.
I also confirmed that Chinese Kagi users translated this "Swag" differently; they translated it as "shopping bag". (Chinese: 购物袋)
Apparently, they also considered using it to refer to Kagi Store - the store itself.
Edit : Japanese users also translated this as "goods" in katakana (グッズ) instead of swag (スワッグ)

As feedback, so far I really like Translate. Translations definitely feel more natural than other platforms and even Chinese to English can sound pretty good, but the website translation feature does feel a bit slow, sometimes could take 30s to up to a minute to finish. Maybe you can find a smaller model for bigger pages?
I found that some languages are listed more than once. Is this a known issue?
I noticed that when I use the copy button, there are some blanks added to the end of each line.
I also found that sometimes the translated text is put into quotation marks, which I manually have to remove when copy / pasting.
I read the latest changelog, I don't get credit for the context idea?
Please give the option to disable the history, or do like the assistant, where it's cleared after 24 hours automatically
I'm unsure how many people have already said this—there's a lot of hard-to-search-through backscroll in this thread, compared with the usual one-thread-per-feedback-point layout—but, just in case my saying this is useful on the margin: probably the single thing that would most increase the use I get out of Kagi Translate would be the ability to use it to translate websites in an inline fashion, without the need to open a dedicated Kagi Translate tab to show the site's translation in. Because, often, the webpages I'm viewing are login-walled, such that the "open a new tab" method, as employed by the bookmarklet and suchlike, will fail on grounds of "the Kagi backend in the new tab won't be able to display the website as I can see it from my logged-in session".
Tulip I'm pretty sure that's been requested already but I am 100% with you on this. Sometimes I have to use Firefox's inbuilt (inferior) translation service just because it does this and Kagi Translate does not.
