RonanCJ I'd go further. To compete effectively with Google Translate, Kagi Translate also needs to show the correct script for romanized inputs. Right now, if I type a transliterated string (in Mandarin, Russian, Vietnamese, Thai, Lao, etc.), Kagi Translate uses that input to generate a translation, but, contrary to Google Translate, I don't get the input corrected back in the proper form. Oftentimes, I use Google Translate simply to get the right spelling or tones or as a quick way of typing a text in my target language on a Latin-script layout. Another important use case is that if the translation fails, users have a better chance of knowing what to correct in their input.

    After thinking on this more, I honestly think that it would be nice to have the live streaming response from the LLM. It should be simple to implement (considering we already have that capability in Assistant). It shows the live progress, it shows that something is happening, and maybe it's just me, but I like it.

    Note: if this is technically difficult, more expensive, etc., then entirely ignore this. This is a 'nice to have' at best.

        starfleet74 Likewise. For me, the days of translating an entire web page are over.

        These days, I am mostly translating a few words from a social media post, or perhaps most commonly, a single unfamiliar word in a foreign language.

        It is hard to imagine anything better than the Google Translate extension for Chrome.

            Requests for Kagi Translate
            I would like the page not to reload during translation.

              I use Google Translate/DeepL for translating Japanese adult video covers. I tried Kagi Translate but it often refuses to translate anything, saying "I'm sorry, I can't assist with that request.". Is that intended or will this restriction be relaxed or lifted?

                syl Just a tip: If you're on MacOS or iOS, you can right-click or select any foreign word and use the "Look up" menu function, and it will show a translation.

                      Additionally, do you intend to provide an API for this? Depending on the cost, I'd love to integrate it with my RSS readers somehow.

                          Vlad I suppose its a bit difficult to say... but if I get an "unlimited" translation API for 5€ p.m. over (alongwith) my existing annual Kagi professional subscription (or usage based API, like the current search API), I'd consider it a great deal. I'd expect the usage metrics to be similar to search, if not lower, and over time, as I move more towards German native media, my usage would decrease.

                          Btw still eagerly waiting for streaming support in the FastGPT API. 🙂

                            Also if I select "Detect language" German is correctly detected but is translated to German even if English is selected.

                              As a suggestion, when pressing enter in the text field of the Kagi translator, instead of creating a line space, it directly translates the text. This can be inconvenient if you want to translate several paragraphs to have a more orderly and organized text. I suggest that the only way to translate should be by pressing the translate button and not the enter button.

                              And in Kagi, it becomes difficult if you want to translate long texts because it forces you to keep the text very close together.

                              It may also seem silly but the delete text button is quite useful in Google Translate to delete all the text without having to select everything, it saves you seconds of time:

                              And I don't know if it's viable or not, but it would be interesting to have a file translator using artificial intelligence for Ultimate users (such as images or text documents):
