There is no Kagi Translate on mobile Orion, one must visit translate.kagi.com and paste a url and click it, in order to get page translation.

With that said, i did it with https://www.magasinetkbh.dk/indhold/arkitektonisk-variation-sundmolen and the translation worked - but i was not able to log into the website - even in another tab I am logged in.

SamuelZeYu Yep, we are tweaking speeds. If the translation is instant, it probably was just cached. We have also improved the speed of best mode for some language pairs, this shouldn't compromise quality whatsoever.

This happens from Chinese to English, in what mode? Best or Standard? I see that "Best" is selected in your screenshot, just double checking that's the mode you have experienced these issues with.

Translation removes the subtitle timestamps/line numbers in the output, leaving only the spoken lines. I would rather the translator comprehends the source text's formatting and does not try to mess with it.

Should've pushed a fix that improves this, so please let us know if the situation has improved for your subtitles 🙂

Refreshing the page does nothing to regenerate the translation. Only workaround I've found is rewording or tweaking my context prompt slightly to trigger regeneration. I wish there was a way I could automatically add some entropy (is that the right term?) to the translation without having to manually edit the context prompt.

It's definitely something we can do, will be added soon.

One more problem: whatever combination of models that Kagi Translate is using for Japanese->English translations, it does not like translating erotic text content 🙂 I can usually coax it into translating by manually doing inconsequential tweaks to the source text or context.

About this, we were already aware and working on a solution - Kagi Translate is LLM-based and a lot of LLMs are unfortunately censored.

Thank you for Kagi Translate, it is otherwise the best web translator tool I've used.

Mongolian speech to text is useless. It's as though the engine isn't told which language to expect, and it picks the wrong language/script.
For Mongolian, Google Translate is pretty good at STT, but doesn't even try TTS. Kagi TTS isn't great, but it at least exists. Not having working STT is a deal breaker for me.

On a positive note, Kagi translate is the only translator that properly handles romanized Mongolian, which is very common when texting.

I'm using Kagi Translate to translate NSFW subtitle files from Chinese (Simplified or Traditional, depends) to English, 150-200 spoken lines at a time.

Some problems I occasionally run into:

Output stream stops in the middle of the text with no error message or explanation
Output translation is German (I think) rather than English, which is what I configured.

Over the past few weeks, we've made many tweaks to improve accessibility of our settings pages for keyboard users, screen reader users, and users who have JavaScript disabled.

Advanced control for Bangs via Regex

We've added an optional "Regex" field to Custom Bangs for more precise control. Instead of $1 always being the first word and $2 the second, you can now define exactly how your query is split to create more powerful shortcuts.

For example, to create a custom translator for a query like !tr spanish live long and prosper, you can now separate the language from the text. In your Custom Bang settings, you would use:

Template: https://translate.kagi.com/?to=$1&text=$2
Regex: (\w+)\s+(.*)

This pattern tells the Bang to use the first word for $1 and the entire rest of the query for $2. If you leave the Regex field blank, your Bangs will continue to work as they always have. We're excited to see what you build with this

Giorgio It looks like the issue is still there.
Even when I use text that’s never been translated before, the translation starts instantly.
But if I switch the Translation Style - just pick any option and then switch back to Natural-Standard-Unknown-Unknown - it shows the Translating status like it should. Plus, the translation quality actually seems better that way.

I almost always use Best, so I've only experience these issues with that.

Gaeilgeoir Makes sense then, on best mode the dictionary definition is not asynchronous but it loads completely first to improve the translation accuracy. We could make this a toggable option so you can stay on best mode without this feature, will come.
hyacinth thank you, will investigate. In the meantime, we just pushed some changes that should allow NSFW text to be translated - please let us know if things have improved on that front 🙂

Giorgio yeah, I was using "best" mode. Perhaps I was expecting it to be a bit quicker. But for fast look ups "standard" seems good to me

Giorgio Looks like the issue is still there. I think it might be because LLM automatically merged similar paragraphs.

This is a screenshot posted by a Japanese user on Kagi Discord a few days ago. It appears to show an issue where text related to Chinese politics was not translated.
(Edit: It seems this issue has been fixed now.)

azdanov this is also finally done, apologies if it took this much. It was bundled with the broader proofreading changes, which are also live.
azdanov as we add more features, that section is going to become more relevant - will add a way to disable it from settings but it's likely going to be on by default. Appreciate the thought of saving tokens if it's not something you use.

@Giorgio Regarding the translation of JP slang. It seems that have been incorrectly translated as transliterations.
Alternative translations was right (sometimes wrong).

Apparently Kagi Translate thinks that “アラビア文字” is Arabic (as the source language) and doesn't always spit out a translation.

Upload Audio Files or Podcast Link for Kagi Translate to Generate Transcripts

Hi, I've found Kagi Translate immensely helpful with Chinese to English translation. I love that it provides definitions, phonetics, etymology, and synonyms. Also love how you can proofread, upload documents, and translate websites.

The obvious gap that I see is translating audio. I would like a service that can provide a written transcript of any audio that is uploaded with both the source language and translation. This service would also be able to accept podcast episodes as input as well.

The ticket i made there was asking for an Orion-Specific functionality, but perhaps this could be created as a Firefox Kagi plugin, and thus get a wider market than just Orion users - because afaik no FF or Safari plugins do this, only Chromium browsers.

On the proofreading tab, the 'Copy to clipboard' button is still disabled until everything is fetched. I think it was added only for translations, so it's enabled immediately after the translation is available.

I had to wait around 15-20 seconds before I was able to copy the previously written text block at the beginning of this post.
