Giorgio yeah, I was using "best" mode. Perhaps I was expecting it to be a bit quicker. But for fast look ups "standard" seems good to me

Gaeilgeoir Makes sense then, on best mode the dictionary definition is not asynchronous but it loads completely first to improve the translation accuracy. We could make this a toggable option so you can stay on best mode without this feature, will come.
hyacinth thank you, will investigate. In the meantime, we just pushed some changes that should allow NSFW text to be translated - please let us know if things have improved on that front 🙂

Giorgio Looks like the issue is still there. I think it might be because LLM automatically merged similar paragraphs.

Is that a different subscription from Orion/Kagi.com ?

stirfriday It requires a Kagi subscription - Starter or higher, see https://help.kagi.com/kagi/plans/plan-types.html
If you have one, make sure you're logged in.

This is a screenshot posted by a Japanese user on Kagi Discord a few days ago. It appears to show an issue where text related to Chinese politics was not translated.
(Edit: It seems this issue has been fixed now.)

@Giorgio Regarding the translation of JP slang. It seems that have been incorrectly translated as transliterations.
Alternative translations was right (sometimes wrong).

Apparently Kagi Translate thinks that “アラビア文字” is Arabic (as the source language) and doesn't always spit out a translation.

Hi, I've found Kagi Translate immensely helpful with Chinese to English translation. I love that it provides definitions, phonetics, etymology, and synonyms. Also love how you can proofread, upload documents, and translate websites.

The obvious gap that I see is translating audio. I would like a service that can provide a written transcript of any audio that is uploaded with both the source language and translation. This service would also be able to accept podcast episodes as input as well.

The ticket i made there was asking for an Orion-Specific functionality, but perhaps this could be created as a Firefox Kagi plugin, and thus get a wider market than just Orion users - because afaik no FF or Safari plugins do this, only Chromium browsers.

@Giorgio all of a sudden I get
got status: 500 Internal Server Error. {"success":false,"result":[],"messages":[],"error":[{"code":2002,"message":"Internal server error"}]} when trying to use "best" mode, and in "standard" mode I get 500 [{"code":2002,"message":"Internal server error"}]

On the proofreading tab, the 'Copy to clipboard' button is still disabled until everything is fetched. I think it was added only for translations, so it's enabled immediately after the translation is available.

I had to wait around 15-20 seconds before I was able to copy the previously written text block at the beginning of this post.

As a separate suggestion, it would be good to be able to disable additional information in the proofreading tab. I rarely need it, but it uses up the tokens for no reason. It could be either a global setting, or maybe have a small button to query it on-demand.

Polish translation seems broken.

It's getting the correct translation for Primary Meaning, but not the output in the chosen language (English).

Using Best mode fixes this.

I just started using this and I’m loving all the extra semantic features, like formality and gender.

Not sure if this has been called out already, but loading or reloading the page with dark theme selected always flashes light theme first. It’s jarring.

I think this is leading to my second UI concern, which is that the Orion browser top bar, which is supposed to color match, accidentally selects white, despite there being no dominant light color on the page.

I tested on Safari mobile, and it doesn’t do the white flash, but likewise selects the wrong color for the top bar.

Also tested on firefox desktop and I’m seeing the white flash.

Its been months since my suggestion had the PLANNED tag added to it, translation of indigenous languages is still lacking and I know which dialect is in the translate application but the fact it doesn't show is extremely unhelpful, Ojibwe has multiple dialects with many many differences.

without this label Indigenous languages are hard to use and translate with. this NEEDS to be a feature. I want to tell more people about kagi translate but It feels wrong when something like this is missing.

Kagi Translate refuses to give an audio pronunciation of kurvë in Albanian.

Translate shouldn't correct smart quotes and apostrophes. Interestingly, this is visible in the text, but not in the list of corrections at the bottom of the page.
