Kagi results come from different sources: Bing, its Teclis index, etc. A way to show where a result came from would be really helpful.

There are many ways to do this. Brave displays an estimated/inexact percentage of results that came from its own index when users click the "info" button below the search bar. Alternatively, the exact source could be included in the crystal ball infobox for some or all results.

Right now, it's sort of possible to figure out which results are original by doing a side-by-side comparison with a non-personalized Bing SERP (e.g. through DuckDuckGo) or by looking for commonalities between the main SERP and the "non-commercial" lens. Streamlining this would be appreciated, as it could help users see a greater value-add in using Kagi.

Perhaps a good start could be annotating the non-commercial results' crystal balls in the main SERP.

Seirdy We could annotae non-commercial results. How would you imagine this looking?

I'd imagine it could be another element in the domain info section at the bottom of the crystal ball popup. The section title could be "source" and the section body could say something like "Teclis", "Non-Commercial Lens", "Search partner", etc.

Here's a screenshot of the region I'm referring to:

Another possibility could be using alternative versions of the crystal ball icon. This could be combined with the domain info entry I described.

From the FAQ, Kagi uses many source indexes for search results. It would be nice to

        a) display an icon representing the source index
        b) have that icon link to the 'source' of truth (whatever makes sense)

        Search indexes - Google, Bing
Vertical sources - Wikipedia, DeepL, "other APIs"
        Non-commercial index - Teclis
        News index - TinyGem
        Instant Answer - "an AI"

I think this would help a lot with understanding what I'm really paying for that I wouldn't find with 2 other clicks on Google and Bing. The marker could be something discrete inside the orb popup.

Browsing6853 I think I saw this suggestion already and it would help a lot if you could locate it so I can merge.

Show what index a result came from if enabled in settings:

                For example:

and then the result could look like this:

Merged 2 posts from Show what indexes results came from.

Somebody should really change the title to something more recognizable...

Vlad changed the title to Show source of results .

this would be useful since teclis may have better results for certain queries, I know I can just use the noncommercial lens but it would be better if there was an indicator in the normal results.

An icon like the result detail

but with the Kagi logo instead

                        (so, only with borders).
                        Placement: near to the URL?
                        I like this proposal too
