Referral links

Happy to recommend the service regardless, but perhaps it's a nice idea to implement a simple referral system. This would reward existing users and drive growth.

Existing users would find a personalized link to Kagi on their settings page (e.g. https://kagi.com/?ref=R4ND0M, URL parameter could be appended to any Kagi link or entered manually when signing up). For every user that signs up and subscribes using the referral code, the user tied to the referral code could get a discount on their monthly subscription fee that month.

Dexwell considering this - also for others who are interested, this is is a proposed description of the feature:

Feature Description:
An existing Kagi user, paying or not, known as the referring user invites a new user via:

A referral link
A direct email

If the new user signs up for the Kagi Premium tier then:

The referring user is awarded a single referral bonus.
The new user will be awarded a referred bonus.

The referral bonus is one free month of Kagi Premium - the referring user must already be a premium user.
The referred bonus is one free month of Kagi Premium after 3 months of paid premium usage (4th month free).
The referral bonus stacks and are burned down until the referring user has run out of referral bonuses.
Once a referring user no longer has referring bonuses stacked up their card will be charged as usual.

We ultimately decided against referral program. The main reason is that people seem to already share Kagi with their freinds, without any financial motivation and this is something closer to Kagi ethos. I think some other options like creating a magic link that would allow users to search without the need to login could be considered.
