Safari extension broken on iOS 17.5

dino I've tried the most recent TestFlight release (thanks for your quick work on this) and changed the preferred search engine in iOS settings, as well as other suggestions in this thread, but the issue is persisting. I appreciate your efforts to resolve this - it must be frustrating for you!

ben_hr test flight didn’t initially work for me either but changing from DuckDuckGo to ecosia and then trying again did work

ben_hr @kickdaddy @eskidost have you followed all new setup instructions? also try selecting All Search Engines in extension popup please and then retry.

kickdaddy sigh never mind worked a couple times and has now reverted to the old broken behavior

dino Thank you. This seems to have fixed it. There are the occasional glitches and the login page displaying for e very short moment, but mostly it works as intended.

When clicking on a link in an email to open a webpage the result is a search query of the redirect rather than going to the site. This is happening from every email with links. This is from the Gmail app on an iPhone on iOS 17.5.1 running the latest Kagi extension.

When you click a link it should go to the direct destination of the link, not a search query result (that also does not have the page listed).

Vlad FWIW the Kagi extension was working on my iPad until this morning, when it started forcing me to log in every time I searched despite already being logged in (if I went directly to kagi.com I was able to make searches, but if I tried searching directly from the browser URL bar, I would get sent to a log-in page where I was unable to successfully log in). I just downloaded the test flight beta and that appears to have fixed the issue on my iPad.

System version: 17.4.1
Device type: iPad Pro 5 12.9"

dino hi, I just installed 2.2.5 and I’m going to test it, but even when I upgraded to 2.2.4 it already improved things quite a bit.

dino Thank you very much! I haven't had any issues with the new version. Search works and the login window is not showing intermittently anymore.

andreagrandi 2.2.4 was implemented with use of DNR API which is quite fast and stable then the other solution, but unfortunately some users had issue where redirection completely stopped working, so for now we needed to find a middle way to have support for everyone. But we will keep working on that to make it more and more perfect in future.

dino something different I just noticed is that when I searched for something, I was able to see the results on DDG for at least half second, before being redirected to Kagi. But I haven’t been able to reproduce it again.

dino I'm still occasionally getting sent to Ecosia (my "engine to redirect"), but it does happen less frequently now.

dino another update: seeing DuckDuckGo results first (the page sometimes remains for over 1-2 seconds), before loading Kagi, keeps happening and with more frequency. I still get the results I want in the end, but that redirect adds slowness to the search and it’s very annoying to see

The latest 2.2.5 from TestFlight seems to be working so far for me.
