I am UK based, when want to look up an item to buy I tend to receive results which point to various other regions in the world. For example, I searched for Xbox elite controller and the first result is the Canadian page, even though I am located in the UK. It would be great to receive location relevant result in this specific case

So long as search country is set to "United Kingdom", Kagi does not fare too badly for me.

Oddly, the first result picks page for en-US locale over en-GB (which does exist, with GPB pricing to boot).

buteo What is exactly the ask? It seems that you confirm that when you set the region, you get correct results?

Vlad I was posting a follow-up hoping to elicit more info from OP about search settings used. I suppose my "ask" atop theirs is why Kagi chose to show the en-US page instead of the en-GB page for xbox.com (the first result in my screenshot) when search country was set to United Kingdom? Mind, you, I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad choice, but it comes off (to me) as odd when a specific localization matching user's search country exists.

Also, do new users get prompted to set a country/locale default for their searches when they sign up, or does the user still "discover" this setting on their own?

Currently they set this on their own, but perhaps we should add it as a part of onboarding?

Vlad I suspect many users are accustomed to search engines where locale is inferred or otherwise set automatically for their searches. So, yes, I would suggest including this during onboarding in some fashion, perhaps within a very brief introduction to some of the most important options and features available in Kagi.

Vlad changed the title to Add region selection to onboarding .
