The app returns to the main screen every time it re-renders (e.g., entering/leaving split screen)

Earlier today, I used The Assistant in the Kagi app along with the Amazon app set in split screen in order to compare product specifications. Twice in the process, I lost the entire prompt that I was writing (which did take some time) in the Kagi app as a result of the app re-rendering, which makes it return to the main screen.

Some instances where the app has to re-render:

Entering split screen
Leaving split screen
Rotating the device while in split screen
Resizing the app while in split screen (thanks @Thibaultmol!)

Apps with proper split screen support are able to re-render without having to refresh the entire UI. Improvements should be made so that the app stays on the same screen when a re-rendering occurs and any text inputted by the user should be kept intact.

This is quite a serious issue due to the potential of data loss.

Can confirm this happens on my phone as well. It's the entire app, not only Assistant.
I rarely use splitscreen, so hadn't stumbled into this. Good find!

I had high hopes when I saw this in the changelog but a major annoyance of mine is that the app seems to lose all state when switching between apps, which I regularly do beteeen firefox and kagi assistant app. Every time I do this it opens as if the app was no longer running in the background. I already excluded it from any battery optimizations but that didn't help. Other apps behave fine. Running latest Android on Pixel 6.

Edit; forgot to add, this is with the app update I just got today installed.

Marno not seeing that here. I think that's a completely different issue because it sounds more like the app being discarded in memory. Opening a separate issue might help to gather information if others are affected.

Marno Hmm I don't think so haha. This issue is specifically for when you're re-opening the app using one of the app shortcuts on the home screen. In your case, it's the app being restarted every time you switch from foreground to background; it's much worse.

Don't assume someone else has had the issue already. Might be unique to the Pixel 6. So I suggest creating an issue from scratch, and make sure to include a screen recording so the devs can believe you! Because most people don't seem to be experiencing this.
