Perhaps this is too specific to be useful, but I think this is an expression of a more general (and rather serious, IMHO) flaw in Kagi translate that I whose source I would hope to help track down with this example:
I translated proprieties into German with Kagi Translate (standard) and got a completely wrong but all the more deceptive answer:
This translation (as well as the explanation of the translation) is almost always wrong and it is deceptive because people might not realize the mistake if they confuse "propriety" with "property".
The correct translation surfaces when you switch to "Best" mode:
I have had similar grave mistakes in the past but didn't record dem so I don't remember what they were, but they would always go away when switching to "Best". Could it be that Standard mode tends to take a few shortcuts too many, with no guardrails to notice when this goes totally wrong?
In this case the shortcut might have been at the level of Levenshtein distance, i.e. that it assumed that "properties" and "proprieties" were the same (or that the user made a typo) and proceeded by translating properties?
Another, perhaps more likely explanation would be that it somehow slipped into the wrong language (French). Although the language was recognized correctly, the explanation text under the translation uses the French "propriรฉtรฉs", suggesting that this is the term it actually translated.
