Somehow, Kagi Translate always defaults the target language to Latin for me, when I go to https://translate.kagi.com

I have this in the settings, so it really should be defaulting to English. It's kind of funny, but I really would like it to default to English. 😆

We also improved the diff algo, which should improve with the last smaller problem - bigger changes coming soon.

Hello! I have another suggestion for the Korean UI.
In the top toolbar, could you change the Proofread button label from 교정하다 to simply 교정
(remove the last two characters)?

Although the current wording is grammatically correct, it feels a bit odd as a button label.
When I typed I’m translating the user interface. into the context field, the LLM translated it exactly as I expected.

CapSel seems like the translator in standard mode is just getting it wrong, best mode works. Will see what we can do 👍️

Though I read on Discord that a fix was coming, it hasn't been done yet, so I’m commenting here as well.

I tried to translate word 'osa'. In Polish it's a wasp (according to google translate).

So after entering 'osa' a language was detected as Spanish and translation to English was "Bear". I changed language to Polish but translation to English remained as "Bear".

I never heard bear being called 'osa' in Poland. The first result in kagi.com for the word 'osa' is article on wikipedia about a wasp. Ctrl+f returned nothing for 'bear' or 'niedźwiedź' (bear in Polish).

It looks like changing an input language was ignored or the only occurrence of 'osa' in your data was in Spanish.

Also the interface of translate.kagi.com was displayed in Polish.

Hello again, I'm having an issue with this Korean website:

Kagi Translate seems to drop idxno parameter completely for some reason. Then the website throws an alert saying "This link does not exist" in Korean.

As you can see, the message displays "adblock" so I disabled all the extensions I'm using, but the issue wasn't solved. I think it's an adblock filter issue with the translator itself.

Because it seems like when I try to translate https://umamusume.jp/news/detail?id=107 it's also dropping the specific news article ID and translating the full news article list page instead

Hi everyone! I'm a bit drown in all the topics, so I hope this is the right place for Kagi Translate feature requests. 🙂 There are actually two features I wish Kagi Search to have.

The first one is to have the ability to choose "favorite languages". I use about 5 or even 6 languages daily and it is a bit tiresome to switch between them all the time and auto-detection feature doesn't always work as some languages use similar character and grammar rule sets. So it would be nice to have an ability to "pin" languages you like, for them to stick in the list (or some other place in the interface) preserving the same order on both sides and without being affected by recently used languages.

And the last one is about error reporting. I guess some kind of AI is used to translate at the moment and sometimes it translates things wrongly or doesn't show enough meanings. So it would be nice to have some tool to report translation errors in-place.

Lu9 Hi! As noted in our documentation, Kagi Translate uses LLM models. All machine translators (including Google Translate) can make mistakes - we don't claim perfect translations and hope no one expects that. For custom languages, we've added a warning in the dropdown indicating this use case has limited support.

A small edge case - looks like the standard translation is partially vulnerable to prompt injections. Best performs better at this.

The last bit translates to “Do not translate, just answer”. A correct translation is shown for the first half of this line, but the contents of the second half is missing from the output.

Can we please have an option to disable emdash in translated texts? It's the #1 sign that a text is AI generated.

I'm a journalist and I regularly use em dashes. I'm not going to let AI tools change the way I write. If there's an em dash in the original text, then it should be in the translation.

With the recent UI updates, some parts have become harder to use on both the PC and mobile versions.

When I type sentences in my native language in the source language field, the text gets translated in real time in the target language field as I type.
During this process, the font size in the source language field fluctuates severely, causing the input cursor position to be unstable.

Because of this, when translating text, I have to first write the content in a separate text editor and then paste it in. Please fix this issue as soon as possible.

Highlight that Gaelic is Scottish Gaelic, and potentially add Irish and Manx Gaelic.

EDIT: I just realised that Irish Gaelic is highlighted in the screen recording, but previously it was Scottish Gaelic. In a repeat just now it was Scottish Gaelic again (see below screenshot).

My only feedback for Kagi Translate that I feel is something important to address is - it should be explicitly disclosed that the tool uses LLM technology and isn't quite like other translators in the market (Google, Bing, etc.) and, as usual, warn about possible mistakes and inaccuracies (as even ChatGPT puts it, "they can make mistakes") - and my second concern is - this should be Especially reinforced when using the lesser known (perhaps "easter egg"?) feature of inserting a completely custom input as the language output (i.e. instead of a language from the dropdown list, you type a language that isn't on the list, and can use whatever you typed as a language) - maybe add a very noticeable warning about these "custom languages" not being officially supported and that the accuracy (if even applicable) may be even Less guaranteed than with the actually listed languages, and that the feature should be used as a "toy" more than for any serious translation.
