If I have translation set to translate from Language A to Language B, but I paste text from Language B into the left side, it would be notable improvement to my experience if I did not have to manually hit the "reverse direction" button. As an example, DeepL's translate page does this and I got used to it.

So what I'm requesting is this: if it's set to translate from A -> B but we paste text of B into the left side, it should automatically switch the setting to be B -> A and do the translation. The user should not have to press the "invert direction" button.

Hello,
In the Korean interface, Russian is incorrectly displayed as 러시아인 (Russian people).

I would appreciate it if you could correct the Korean text to 러시아어 (Russian language). Oddly, the variants are translated correctly.

Additionally, many other languages are also incorrectly translated as "people." If the team implements user-submitted translations via Localazy, I would be happy to help.

Also "English (UK)" is translated as 영어 (영국) but US English isn't localized in Korean.
Could you please change "English (US)" to 영어 (미국) as well?

Hey, could the logo on the top left of Kagi Translate be made to link to kagi.com?

I use the PWA version of Kagi Translate on iOS, and about once every one or two weeks, my subscription cookie session expires. That means I need to log in again to regain access to all the features of Kagi Translate.

The problem is, because there's no link to kagi.com anywhere, I have to repeatedly delete the app and re-add it to my home screen every single time. It's really inconvenient this way.

Of course, I understand you can't run a sustainable business if subscription sessions never expired, so I'm totally fine with having to sign back in from time to time.

azdanov this is also finally done, apologies if it took this much. It was bundled with the broader proofreading changes, which are also live.
azdanov as we add more features, that section is going to become more relevant - will add a way to disable it from settings but it's likely going to be on by default. Appreciate the thought of saving tokens if it's not something you use.

When I select an item from the translation history, it doesn't go to the 'Text' section. So, if I'm in 'Document' or 'Website' translation, selecting a history item has no effect. And if I'm in 'Proofread,' the text is added there.

nieto good point, it should now always switch to text mode if you click on a translation history item 🙂

So im running into 3 issues, all can be reproduced easily:

Target URL for site translation loads but doesnt translate into the target language. (kagiproxy.com)
"500 internal error"
"We cant load this page"

Also, why do some links that i try use kagiproxy.com while others dont? It feels a bit inconsistent.

Proofreader styling on desktop is broken in two ways.
First, in dark mode the drawer at the bottom still has a white background.
Second, when the drawer is scrolled down and a hover over a correction forces it to scroll back up again, it does not scroll far enough. In the screenshot I had scrolled down a bit, and then hovered over the portion of text that I haven't pixelated. It correctly scrolled up to the item "bignificant -> significant," but as you can see, part of that item is obscured by the drawer header.

(Also, the original text had "big," which got corrected to "significant," but because they both share the "ig" it got confused with the diff. I don't really care about that little bug, but there you have it.)

Somehow, Kagi Translate always defaults the target language to Latin for me, when I go to https://translate.kagi.com

I have this in the settings, so it really should be defaulting to English. It's kind of funny, but I really would like it to default to English. 😆

We also improved the diff algo, which should improve with the last smaller problem - bigger changes coming soon.

Hello! I have another suggestion for the Korean UI.
In the top toolbar, could you change the Proofread button label from 교정하다 to simply 교정
(remove the last two characters)?

Although the current wording is grammatically correct, it feels a bit odd as a button label.
When I typed I’m translating the user interface. into the context field, the LLM translated it exactly as I expected.

I tried to translate word 'osa'. In Polish it's a wasp (according to google translate).

So after entering 'osa' a language was detected as Spanish and translation to English was "Bear". I changed language to Polish but translation to English remained as "Bear".

I never heard bear being called 'osa' in Poland. The first result in kagi.com for the word 'osa' is article on wikipedia about a wasp. Ctrl+f returned nothing for 'bear' or 'niedźwiedź' (bear in Polish).

It looks like changing an input language was ignored or the only occurrence of 'osa' in your data was in Spanish.

Also the interface of translate.kagi.com was displayed in Polish.

Hello again, I'm having an issue with this Korean website:

Kagi Translate seems to drop idxno parameter completely for some reason. Then the website throws an alert saying "This link does not exist" in Korean.

As you can see, the message displays "adblock" so I disabled all the extensions I'm using, but the issue wasn't solved. I think it's an adblock filter issue with the translator itself.

CapSel seems like the translator in standard mode is just getting it wrong, best mode works. Will see what we can do 👍️

Hi everyone! I'm a bit drown in all the topics, so I hope this is the right place for Kagi Translate feature requests. 🙂 There are actually two features I wish Kagi Search to have.

The first one is to have the ability to choose "favorite languages". I use about 5 or even 6 languages daily and it is a bit tiresome to switch between them all the time and auto-detection feature doesn't always work as some languages use similar character and grammar rule sets. So it would be nice to have an ability to "pin" languages you like, for them to stick in the list (or some other place in the interface) preserving the same order on both sides and without being affected by recently used languages.

And the last one is about error reporting. I guess some kind of AI is used to translate at the moment and sometimes it translates things wrongly or doesn't show enough meanings. So it would be nice to have some tool to report translation errors in-place.

A small edge case - looks like the standard translation is partially vulnerable to prompt injections. Best performs better at this.

The last bit translates to “Do not translate, just answer”. A correct translation is shown for the first half of this line, but the contents of the second half is missing from the output.
