Anti Clickbait videos for all Accounts (not just family)

pooispoois First of all, all users are susceptible to shock thumbnails and clickbait titles. At the very least this results in wasted time.

If you sanitize clickbait thumbnails and titles, users would waste more time because they will not be able to tell that those videos are low quality.

How about instead, Kagi could use the original video thumbnails from creators with visual AI to determine (guess) the quality of the video itself, and then use that to influence ranking? Just like Kagi uses the presence of trackers to determine influence the ranking of web pages?

carl How would a 3rd party AI "guess" which videos are bad and which are not from thumbnails? It wouldn't have access to watch time, dislikes, or viewer age metrics, so it would have to operate on a fairly clumsy method of treating all "clickbait thumbnails" (however that category is supposed to be formed) as corresponding to bad videos.

I would 100% enable this if given the option. I don't see how there's any downside to giving users choice as to how content is displayed for them.

I can see why you wouldn't want to enable it by default, but I think the marketing angle is kind of shaky ground anyway. If I want to, I can just use an adblocker to completely remove the elements for thumbnails on all videos if I really want to, this is no different to that except replacing it with something actually useful.

RonanCJ Typical clickbait thumbnails will be easy to identify by a visual AI, and those thumbnails are a good signal of expected video quality. It can never be perfect, but it can at least be a hundred times better than the current Kagi video results.

Tealdragon204 DeArrow's dataset is not licensed for commerical use - only free, non-commerical applications. I would suggest opening a ticket specifically for DeArrow integration, and if there is enough interest over our current implementation, we can reach out and see what the terms would be for Kagi to use it.

Using a frame from the middle of the video is usually a good way to get a representative image.

I've yet to hear anybody here explain the benefit of masquerading clickbait videos. It will mean that you will not have any way of discerning low quality videos. It's like putting lipstick on a pig. I'd rather avoid the pig.

I find that there are some clickbait videos that are bad but some that are perfectly fine as videos and are using titles and thumbnails that I consider clickbait because that is the name of the game on certain parts of YouTube.

Kagi should downrank the first type and stop the second type from using clickbait to grab my attention.
