Ever since updating to iOS 17.5, the Kagi Safari extension no longer works consistently. It will work for one or two searches (if that) and then stop redirecting.

The extension should always redirect.

We have pushed new version 2.2.5 (34) on TestFlight. Please give that a try and let us know if that fixes your issues.

    • We have updated setup instructions to avoid confusions for new permission requirements
    • We have fixed backward compatibility (iOS 15 & 16), as the new implementation broken support for older iOS
    • Fixed an issue where redirect rules were not updating when updating private session link (rarely happens, but was still a potential issue)

TestFlight invite link, if you don't have access to that - https://testflight.apple.com/join/nx6Gvf4h

We are also working to fix sign-in page issue on server side to completely avoid that, we can hope for that fix tomorrow. But still the extension should work without any issue if configured properly by following instructions.

Attaching visual instructions here too for help.

Also was able to replicate. Took me 3 searches. Did test Kagi 1, test Kagi 2, and then test Kagi 3 and it went to DDG. I just typed in the address bar of safari.

Yay it’s planned. 🙂.

I’ve been using Kagi for a while now but in the last few days Kagi extension for Safari is not working correctly.

When I search something in the url bar of Safari, instead of redirecting me to Kagi, it just performs the search on DuckDuckGo (which is my default search engine before Kagi) and I see the DDG page with the results.

Without me doing anything on that page, open another tab and almost in the background the search page is reloaded, this time with Kagi!

    What’s wrong with my configuration?

    Thanks

    Kagi estension to work correctly

My guess is that DuckDuckGo (or any other search engine) occasionally serves the page faster than the extension receiving the onBeforeNavigate event & initiating a redirect.

Merged 3 posts from Kagi extension for Safari often loads DuckDuckGo instead of Kagi.

I’ve never had issues with the Kagi for Safari extension, I’m lucky I guess?

It looks background scripts in Safari broke in the recent iOS release, many other extensions are affected https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/750330

Our team is scrambling to find a workaround. We have a TestFlight ready that uses a different method and should be posting a link here today.

We also invite our users to try using Orion for iOS and have a native Kagi integration support, avoiding issues like this in the future.

Vlad Been testing it for a bit today, so far so good. Will report back if there's any issues.

Loaded beta from test flight. When I open a new private browsing window and I enter a query into Safari’s search bar, the Kagi search results page is shown but no results are displayed. If I press Safari’s refresh button, the results are displayed correctly as the page is refreshed.

TDV please try latest build (28) we just uploaded, and let us know if that works for you?
