For reasons that are hard to explain, the concept of "timezones" still unfortunately exist, and dumb concepts pair very well with dumb implementations.
Current usage of timezones has a bug I've heard people call "daylight savings time", which unfortunately affects a decent amount of the USA, and a fun quirk of this is some timezones are actually 2 timezones. One such timezone is MT (Mountain Time), which is comprised of MST (Mountain Standard Time) which is ANSI compliant, and MDT (Mountain Daylight Time) which is used during the daytime. Kagi helpfully decides which one of these are you are interested in, and since MST isn't a real timezone, it is helpful enough to show you the time in MT instead.
This is great and all, however it makes Kagi incompatible with Arizona, which uses MST, regardless of if some people feel it is not a real timezone.
To replicate this:
- Type "Time in MST" into Kagi
I would like to see the time in MST, regardless of what time of year it is. Converting between timezones is something I tend to do year-round in my household, not only during specific months.
It is also useful for those living outside of Arizona to search for too. I have made a habit of saying "My timezone is MST but please don't type it into Google because it will lie to you half the year", I am already extremely exhausted from this, and do not want to add "or Kagi" to my disclaimer every time.
