Searching for 15:50:09 UTC to pst doesn't trigger the time conversion widget, instead just returning search results. Dropping the seconds from the query fixes this and the widget triggers correctly.

The time conversion widget should trigger when times include seconds

Grooty This so much. I don't see any reason to use WA for basic calculations like 123*456+789. Just show me a basic calculator widget. It feels like a huge waste of API call( I mean, searching for basic calculation itself is, but..) and not actually helpful in any ways.

I don't personally search for such basic calculations(again, thinking itself it quite wasteful, even if im Ultimate user) but if I ever have to do, I'd expect calculator showing up for followup calculations

Whenever I search someone, both the wikipedia widget and the wolframalpha widget comes up with basically similar information.

I'd say probably not trigger wolframalpha when it comes to person search.

One thing that I couldn't get working earlier is inflation calculation. For example, the following queries work in Wolfram|Alpha but not in Kagi:

$1000 in 1984 adjusted for inflation
1000 usd 1984 in 2023

Edit: the same is also true for film information (budgets, directors, release dates, ratings). For example:

Dune budget
Everything everywhere all at once director
When was 2001 a space odyssey released

Wolfram Alpha can't figure out by itself that "The assassination of Jesse James" is a movie, and not... a query about the supposed assassination of a baseball player named Jesse James.

I didn't experience a lot of bad results, but from the other comments, the common trivia questions seems much better handled by wikipedia than Wolfram Alpha.

I'm experiencing inconsistencies with the triggering of the instant answers, though.

It doesn't work for me - I try the searches in the blog and the results don't look anything like those on the blog. Do you have to have some higher-tier plan to see this, or is it limited to certain regions or browsers/OS combinations?

Here NL, MacOS, tried both Firefox and Safari.

Vlad I agree that the query "BTC" should not bring up the Wolfram widget, or at least if it does should link to the crypto currency and not the page on bethanechol. This is an example where Kagi being less aggressive about showing the Wolfram widget would be helpful.

An example where I would want the ability to summon the Wolfram widget is something like “mass of carbon”, which doesn't bring up the Wolfram widget, but which I would like to see the Wolfram widget for since Wolfram tends to be good at these kinds of science questions.

I was quite impressed when I tried searching for this, and got a legit answer:

The only thing, I didn't know if the result was valid at first glance (my original search terms weren't as straight forward). It would have been nice to know what Wolfram Alpha parsed from my query - to help build my confidence. Something like their UI:

I expected the Wolfram Alpha widget to be able to find the average of an array of numbers. This is a fairly trivial task for Wolfram so I expected it to work in Kagi but was disappointed it didn't work. Not super annoying as I could just add !wolf to the query and see it on their webiste, but it would've been nice to have it inline.

I think it should also work with "sum of [x]", "median of [x]", "standard deviation of [x]", or similar queries.
