Using bangs in image search does not redirect.
Bangs in Image / Video / News / Podcast / Maps Search do not redirect.

- Perform any search with <query>.
- Click on a widget (Images/Videos/Podcasts/Maps etc)
- Add "g" or any other <bang> at the end of query.
- Kagi searches for <query> + <bang> in that widget.
I expect a search with <query> in wherever the <bang> should search in.
Tested on Arc(Chromium) on the Kagi website.
Instant bangs doesn't work on other sections, like images and videos.
E.g. Instant bang for !g configured won't work at images:
https://kagi.com/images?q=g+test
If the user is trying to use the instant bang, Kagi is already out of option, the current behavior of only working on web results is not intuitive.
I'm not quite sure whether this is a bug or intentional, but nonetheless it's a bit of a pain point for me so I'm opening a thread.
Bangs don't work when searching Images, Videos, News, and more generally anything other than Web searches. This provides an inconsistent search experience. I quite frequently find myself searching for something in Videos, but after taking a quick peek at the Kagi results I might want to fallback to e.g. Youtube if I'm not satisfied with what I find.
What this means is that I'll either:
- Click on the Web tag, wait for the search result, then append !yt at the end of my query. This results in wasted time and, arguably more important for you guys, a wasted query.
- Retype the whole query or copy it to the address bar, then append !yt, which is annoying.
I'd expect bangs to work everywhere.
Have faced the same problem, very annoying.

Bangs currently only work when on the "Search" page in kagi. Oftentimes when I can't find an image I'm looking for I suffix the bang !gi
to search google images. This does not work if I'm already searching for images on kagi.
I expect bangs to work in all kagi search fields and not just the general "search" search field, but also on "Images", "Videos", etc.
This no longer works. Using !g
or !gi
redirects as appropriate, but no longer keep your search field information. For example, !gi
will always send you to https://www.google.com/webhp?tbs=imgo:1&udm=2
This only occurs when redirecting from images.
