Hey!
On "AI slop" - I'd like to understand what's not working for you. Have you seen factual errors or hallucinations in the summaries? Kagi News analyzes thousands of articles and the summaries are grounded on actual source content, not generated from thin air. If you're seeing mistakes, that is something we can act on. There is a button to report mistakes at the bottom of each story (on web) and we also have an active kagifeedback thread here.
That said, you can already disable all sections in Settings and keep only Sources enabled - that gives you just the links without summaries. If there's something about that workflow that feels clunky or could be improved, I'm open to suggestions.
On custom categories / preferred sources influencing content - This is against Kagi News's core philosophy. The whole point is that we aggregate many sources to break echo chambers - the summary emerges from the collision of different perspectives, not from a personalized bubble. We deliberately don't let source preferences change what gets summarized because that would defeat the purpose.
You can contribute new community categories via kite-public, but the expectation is more coverage, not less. If you add a category, other users can improve it by adding more sources over time.
