Hitting "back" to return to search results empties the search results

Steps to reproduce:
Search for something through the browser address bar (e.g. "something"), click the first result (e.g. dosomething.org), hit back. The search results have disappeared and the search box is empty. Doesn't happen every time.

Expected behavior:
The search results are still displayed.

System info:
Firefox/Pop OS/Canada/US-EAST
Brave/iOS/Canada/US-EAST

btw do you have browser privacy mode in Kagi turned on?

I had the same "problem". But it was the following setting which caused this behaviour 🙂

bytebln Thanks, many people have enabled this (because it sounds "nice") without reading the description. Any ideas how we can rename this option?

It was happening to me without Privacy Mode enabled fairly regularly for a couple of weeks (has Kagi been out that long now?) but since posting it doesn't appear to have happened again, though I've had my gif recorder ready and waiting. Maybe it fixed itself. You can close this if you want and I'll reopen if it crops up again.

I suspect "Privacy" makes people associate this mode with the behaviour of Firefox's "Private" windows, but with them the back button still works as normal. How about "Browser History Silence Mode" or something that is just different enough from Private/Incognito to make people read the description?

I am thinking any amount of language changes won't be enough to really make this a polished experience. We've struggled to find good wording and still people commonly need some clarification.

I wonder if we can figure out a way to detect that:

You went away to another site
You pressed back
The browser's bfcache fails (for any reason, this is out of our control)
We can only show you the empty page

and show an explanatory message instead, so you get some real feedback instead of nothing.

weird, this happens to me each and every time with qutebrowser. Works fine in firefox. Privacy mode is disabled (haven't changed the defaults). When I go back, the url is correct and the search box is populated with the text, but there are no search results.

If you could reply here with a video (preferably with console open) that would be helpful.
