Kagifeedback search is too restrictive

I searched on kagifeedback.org using the magnifier on the top of the page. I've entered "umlaut" and got zero results.

I expected to find, for example, https://kagifeedback.org/d/9289-umlauts-are-sometimes-not-displayed-in-the-quick-assistant

The search yields results on "umlauts".

To me, this exact word search seems overly restrictive and unexpected.

Agreed. I find the forum’s search function to be generally quite lacking. I usually use Kagi Search and restrict results to kagifeedback.org (or orionfeedback.org).

Yes, we know forum search sucks. Right now I'd suggest doing what @dreifach said and using Kagi Search to do it (we even have default snaps you can use to quickly restrict it!).
We're developing a product right now that will solve this, just give us a minute 🙂

I use Kagi to search kagifeedback myself.

I have a custom snap setup with url to search kagifeedback (only discussions, not tag pages and profiles):
