New setting to completely remove/hide Quick Answer

Currently there’s a setting to turn off Instant Answers, but I want a setting to never see the quick answer icon at all, ever.

With the recent changes to mobile UI design, a bright orange, lightning bolt Quick Answer icon has been added to the bottom right of search results, covering text I may care about, and frankly I want to yeet it into the fiery sun.

I want to provide context- in the US, nearly the entire internet ecosystem has adopted antagonistic and hostile design patterns that shove little hovering/floating icons all over my screen, and they’re almost all for a garbage ai bot trying to offer unhelpful answers to non-existent questions. The rest of the internet has ruined this well-intentioned design now, because nothing makes me more irate than my chubby human fingers tapping a hovering icon by mistake and then having to deal with Clippy Jr.

I know I can save custom css, but that’s not a helpful solution if Kagi wants to scale for most people. I would love to have a new setting I can toggle so I never see the Quick Answer icon again in my personal Kagi experience.

In AI settings, a third toggle to hide Quick Answer from search results entirely

Alternatively- maybe under Appearance settings?- a setting that disables or hides any hovering/ floating icons from the mobile and desktop views would suffice as well.

This is a good idea, that would also still allow a search ended by "?" to trigger quick answer, if somebody wants to use it that way. There would a way of triggering the ai-answer, putting ? at the end, withtout an annoying button. And by being able to switch off both of these features in the settings, users can customise it perfectly.

hollabaq86 yep. Do not ever want to see this. Also, the results pages are taking 4-5 times longer to load. This is what I was paying to avoid.

If it's not gone by Friday, I'm gonna have to cancel.

Shouldn't have happened at all without an off switch.
There's clearly a voice or awareness missing on your team for this to go live without seeing this coming.

kirkmc I know, I was talking about a hypothetic future, where we can toggle off the quick search buttons, but still be able to use the "?". I dont want to toggle off quick search completely, just tone done the UI.

You have pushed an update which puts a lightning bolt quick summarize button on the results page, with no way to turn it off. And loading search results takes 5-10 times longer.
If it's not gone by Friday, I'll cancel my subscription. I'll tell you when I want AI, stop shoving garbage where it's not wanted.

I expect to not have my service made worse in exchange for a feature I do not want and can't turn off. If it's still like this Friday, I'm cancelling.
Also this form's image upload is erroring.

Tally another DO NOT WANT vote in your feedback.
I do not want anything to do wtih AI as it exists now. If you're offering it, you need to have a way to turn it off. I am not paying for it. If I am paying you and you don't let me disable it then I am paying for it and so I will not pay for it for long.
I can't believe that everyone is so drenched in the Kool-Aid that there is no comprehension of the hostility that some people hold toward the tech.

To clarify with everyone as I've seen conflicting views: Do you want to be able to remove Quick Answer entirely, remove the UI and keep the ? trigger, or something else?

RoxyRoxyRoxy I can't speak for anyone else but I just wanted the option to disable or hide it. I think having the ? trigger without the UI is fine.

We can already turn off the auto trigger in the settings. Give us an option to get rid of the button. Some of us want the option to disable both, some of them just want the UI to be simplified so these features are hidden. I'm using Kagi to avoid AI, as I'm sure most of the others in this thread are.

This does not require clarification. People in this thread have already pointed out the UI issues that the button causes. Give an option to get rid of it.
