Both using Verbatim mode and enclosing in quotes work around the issue, yes. Although it is certainly nice that you can do this, I would not call this 'resolving' things. Even if this turns out to be working as designed, I still think this is suboptimal behaviour.
Another search thingy with a G-styled logo which name I cannot recall right now will either, as expected, return results about dogs if used in Dutch, or inform the user that some auto-correction has taken place, offering a verbatim search instead, if used in English. I do not usually use Kagi in Dutch myself, but I noticed this during my parents' "trial onboarding" last weekend, so to say, and I have discovered a few more odd results like this in the meantime. I do not mean to sound unkind or overly critical, but... if I have to explain to them, non-technical people, why they now suddenly have to (remember to) take an extra step, no matter how trivial it may seem to us technically inclined, that they did not need to take before, with a search engine that is supposedly better... I would not know how to spin this as a good thing, even if I do absolutely enjoy and see Kagi's benefits myself.
Edit: to clarify, I am aware you can enable verbatim search 'globally', but then you also do not get any corrections e.a. that are desirable, which is in my opinion also suboptimal.
