Hierarchal order of results in maps

I know there is an America first thing going on, but I really do think Scandinavia the european region should come before scandinavia the small town in wisconsin

Same for Douglas, the town in the UK. It should come before the mountain Cape Douglas in Alaska, and the supermarket in Germany, or the Douglas Hill house

This would make search results a bit more sensible for non-us users

Hmm, that's a good point.

I think we return by using stable sort based on query similarity in "Accuracy" tab, so basically preserve order we get from API providers which should be biased by location of query. I will double-check that's the case. Otherwise we might want to re-order based on size, popularity, distance but not sure if we have it all available.

If you could provide URL (focus of map) when you do these autocomplete tests that would be helpful @Boomkop3

Autocomplete we keep default order by it's also biased by your location. I spotted that it off sometimes. We can possibly reorder to show bigger or closer things first or switch the provider.

damian I did notice the search results change when I move the map to show more local results. Which is nice! But it appears to have quite a strong bias to show united states territories.

Moving the map an inch changes these results, but I found these two examples by just picking a thing on the map and looking it up. Because I've been noticing this issue quite often, I was just busy using the map for other things that finding glitches.

Also, I'm guessing this issue has already been partially addressed. Yesterday "Paris" got me some place in Texas. Today, Scandinavia gets me the region in Europe. It's a button tap removed now:

Typing Scandinavia: this appears to change depending on where I put the map. Hovering over pretty much anywhere above Europe, I get the expected result.
