I found Kagi Translate to be very useful for composing official letters when reporting to external organisations (at least for private association matters, but I imagine this would also work great for a more professional setting). The proofread mode is great for checking already semi-finished texts, but it just occurred to me that having some sort of integrated Kagi Assistant chat would be great for wording matters.
I regularly struggle looking for appropriate words to communicate certain connotations, and I often launch synonym searches as a result. But pure lookups in a thesaurus often aren't very useful in this situation, too, because you cannot explain to the thesaurus what connotations you're looking for.
A much better tooling approach in my view would be if the translate UI allows me to chat with an LLM about the short context I'd like to change the wording of. I could provide all the nuances I'm thinking of and the LLM could hopefully provide me with much more appropriate wording choices than if I looked them up in a dictionary.
Note that I also think this feature would be useful for translations, too (so it wouldn't only be a useful feature for the proofread mode). I have to compose such documents in two languages from time to time, one of which I'm not very proficient at. I feel an inline LLM chat would also be helpful there (likely even more if the LLM is good at understanding my primary language while still proposing wordings in the target language).
As an example for a situation in which a «wording discusssion» would be useful, consider the following statement:
[...] Two of these goals are very hard to reach.
This doesn't communicate an optimistic view, it just states that you aren't going for low hanging fruit; everything else sounds defeatist. A more appropriate wording might be:
[...] Two of these goals are very ambitious.
This communicates a more optimistic outlook but still acknowledges that the goals themselves are challenging. LLMs are already a very useful tool to arrive at this word choice (compared to e.g. dictionary sites), but for now, I'd still have to copy-paste the relevant text context into a new Kagi Assistant challenge and describe much of the further context myself (in addition to stating what I'm looking for w.r.t. wording).
Implementation Suggestion
When proofreading or translating a document text, users of Kagi Translate can select specific pieces of the target text (i.e. on the right) and start a new, inline LLM chat (e.g. with a dedicated button). In this chat, the user can describe why they'd like to change the wording and what they want to express exactly. Behind the scenes, the LLM is not only passed the query, but also the context around the selected passage (as well as which exact selection was made), so it can propose new options for wording without much friction.
If the user is happy with a proposal, they can integrate it into the translated/proofread text and move on.
