Since firefox 130, firefox has a UI to use various chatbots. It's possible to manually change it to use kagi assistant, but it'd be better for subscribers to be able to simply select it, perhaps only if they already have the kagi extension installed.
the feature otherwise works perfectly already. you can select text and send it along withg pre-baked prompts, you can open the assistant with the appropriate buttons, etc. all that's needed is either to get on mozzilla's "good list" or, if possible, have the kagi extension add assistant to the list at runtime.
It's not great UX for a user to need to change browser.ml.chat.provider in [about:config](about:config) to https://kagi.com/assistant. Doing this would make users click a single button to achieve the same spot as competitors.
in this screenshot, i selected the pre-baked prompt "test me" on the highlighted paragraph.
