Make Images' Licences Clearer

I feel that the way images' licences are described is not sufficient to know how/if the images can be used for a particular purpose.

I actually like the way Kagi describes the images' licences — it is simpler, more intuitive, and prettier. But it is not sufficient to know whether I can re-use the image. Is public, for example, CC? What's the difference between share, and share commercial? I feel these distinctions need to be made clearer.

dreifach Public includes both public domain and creative commons zero. Share includes non-commercial creative commons licenses. These could probably be documented with examples of what licenses fall in each category

How would you want to make them clearer? I think the license selection dropdown is pretty clear already, plus Kagi tells you what each image is licensed under. One suggestion I think I would make thought is to add a small tooltip on the license section explaining the license simply; not everyone knows all the different (often very confusing) license names.

RoxyRoxyRoxy Yes, perhaps a note at the bottom of the drop-down with a guide on what each licence name means? Not necessarily written there, but a click-through to a guide.

dreifach Maybe there could be the current (simple) license options, and then an option to specify an exact license as well? I don't do a whole lot with image licensing but am trying to envision smth easy to use for ppl like me and pros in need of more advanced options 🙂

RoxyRoxyRoxy For folk prone to customise their settings (which I think encapsulates everyone on this forum) that's a good option. But as a default for all users I think at least a small note to a mini-guide would be useful. Some folk don't automatically check their settings to see if something is customisable.
