  • Privacy respecting Google Assistant replacement for Android

  • SuggestionsAI

Features:

  • hot word detection
  • start calls
  • start apps
  • interact with apps (next song, switch playlist, etc..)
  • search kagi
  • react to notifications
  • update calendar events
  • maybe actually make calls ? but that might not be very interesting for Kagi yet given the current cost of OpenAI's real time API...

all these should be easy for Kagi as it is just about function calling.

would love to see that become reality.
today I'm using speak GPT
but it's just a very basic (sorry if the maintainer reads this) wrapper around OpenAI with very limited function calling features, I'm pretty sure Kagi can make this happen.

I will definitely switch and stick to Ultimate plan for this. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.

This might be possible with Apple phones as well, but I believe they usually lock everything for them...

There's a bunch of apps like this already on the play store. Offline voice recognition is not anything new

I think you missed the very first word of this thread's title. Let me share with you an incredibly rare thing to find in the play store:

Tried it already, and not as good as Speak GPT + Futo Voice Input (which are both open source, and Futo runs Whisper locally, thank you Louis Rossman if you ever read this)
in fact it has some good features such as hot word detection and some capability to launch stuff.
But in no way is it capable of actually understanding what you say. It is not based on an LLM but rather on some "intent detector" based on a sentences compiler:
        https://github.com/Stypox/dicio-sentences-compiler

If you want to run a large language model of the size and quality that openAI has, you'll pretty much just have to deal with someone taking your data or paying a hefty premium for a dedicated vps that you can encrypt for yourself.
