tomratliff +1 on this suggestion. In fact, in certain situations, like copying Discord messages to translate and pasting, I often get a newline and nothing else. Something about Discord's HTML is mangled in a way, I suppose. So I have to do the same pasting into a plaintext editor first, to strip it of markup. For clarity, this is macOS, pasting from the Discord app to Kagi Translate in Safari.

This rich text paste is always a really annoying feature whenever it pops up in nearly anything, I find. For Kagi Translate I wish it was a toggleable feature, though I'd consider evaluating if anyone really makes use of it!

Would love to be able to see image history of translations. I was in Japan, and frequently needed to take photos of signs, or menu's, and couldn't keep a history. I'd be happy with just a local on-device history.

OR if already available, this feature wasn't discoverable.

Australian english seems to have recently changed from an accurate reflection of how english is used in australia, to a joke option, which leans heavily into stereotypes (e.g. adding "mate" at the end of every sentence. Adding "bloody" as an adjective in many inappropriate contexts)

I appreciate a joke, but isn't this meant to be a professional tool? Australian English is a legitimate variant of English.

Sheap Yes! The LLM sounds like somebody trying to imitate a stereotype of an Australian English speaker. I've had use words like "gander" or close with "Cheers!" on a very formal, very business-like email. I know Australians culture can be percieved as very informal, and I think that can be true to a decent extent, but there is still formal and more mesured Australian English, and this LLM fails spectacularly at it.

When translating long texts into Japanese in Best Mode, the translation always stops halfway through if it contains sexual content. Could you please fix this?

Hi all, loving Kagi translate.

I have just noticed a minor bug when trying to translate Japanese to English (UK).

When I first load Kagi Translate and it is in "Detect Language" mode, I type 男声, and the app detects Chinese
Detected Chinese - Nán shēng romanisation
It shows the Chinese romanisation of Nán shēng

However, when I then manually change it to translate from Japanese, the Chinese romanisation remains, instead of showing the Japanese romanisation dansei
Manually changed to Japanese - still Nán shēng Chinese romanisation}

Thanks for a great tool! And a huge thanks for integration with Anki!

Now I'd like to share 2 things I noticed.

Bug: Dictionary in some sentences ignores chosen UI Language and continues to use English.
Feature request: For a language like Finnish it would be useful to see all or at least the most common conjugations of the word instead of just a sentence describing conjugation group the word belongs to.

"Listen to translation" is sometimes completely off to the point of giving a whole talk when there's only one word to pronounce. I can't reproduce it right away.

I love the language tools.
Tough the UI locks up after a few seconds when I paste from my old bachelor's thesis to KDE Kate to the spellchecker.

The feature here, of course, is the Unicode fancy text, but I've tried a simpler section with that and it doesn't trigger that issue alone. The text is essential medium sized and contains EBNF.

This is a total non-issue for me but I still wanted to share since I didn't find anything about freezing ITT.
Browser is Firefox 149.0 (64-bit) on Arch Linux.

Edit: Seems rather by hovering over that area for example triggers the lockup.

Vlad New featuer with auto-formating pasted text just ruin my text. And now everytime i need to click "undo". I hope that it would be possible to turned off completly.

Hi everybody, I've noticed that in the Android's app of Kagi Translate I'm not able to listen to a translation, even if I've the speech and recognition synthesis from Google. I'd know if it is an app's problem or something else, please!

When I am working in the Translate tab, then click the Proofreading tab, my text gets erased. It would be great if my input text would remain.

My usage scenario: typing my foreign language (japanese) into the left side of Translate to see if it's comprehensible by reading my translated native language (english). And once it's comprehensible I want to improve it by switching to the proofreading tab.

I'm noticing some oddities with the IPA transcription on the Irish Gaelic. This word "cuireadh" is not pronounced with a /ð/, not since the Old/Middle Irish period (so like not in the last 200 years at least). In modern Irish we should see something like /ˈkɪrʲə/ in the caighdeán oifigiúil or maybe /ˈkɪrʲuː/ or /ˈkirʲəg/ in some dialectal forms. Wiktionary actually has a pretty solid list of options for this word including loads of dialectal variants, not sure if that helps.

Also hearing lots of incorrect pronunciations coming out of the audio models, none of them seem to know quite what to do with Irish spelling. Maybe worth mentioning that the dialect groups sound really different from each other, so I wonder if maybe some of the training data is mixing those dialects and that's why the performance is inconsistent. You'll want to see if you can get data either just from the caighdeán oifigiúil, or failing that pick a dialect and stick with it.

I really really hope I am missing some obvious step or plainly using the tool wrong, otherwise I must say that Kagi Translate, at least inside Orion, where I use and need it the most, is utterly useless 99% of the times, while it works in a mediocre way the remaining 1%. The experience is so jarring im considering cutting all ties with everything Kagi / Orion related, because releasing a feature that works like this is, in my opinion, nothing short of an insult.
So again, really really hoping the problem is the user (me) and I forgot to click one magically hidden checkbox that will make everything "work"

BTW, why doesn't the Kagi Translate iOS app offer translation improvement suggestions, unlike the PWA version?

Without it, I think a major advantage of using an LLM for a translation app is lost.

That feature is not available in the iOS version of the app.
