I'm having a minor UI issue in Proton Mail when using the Kagi Translate extension.

It's quite cumbersome to have to click the Kagi button for every single email.
It seems like the color theme is not being respected.
(This probably only applies to SOV languages) The Kagi icon should be on the left. (In Korean, "Kagi로 번역" is the correct phrasing.)

I've got an issue with suggestions for the translation. As you can see in my screenshot, I translated a sentence from German to English and the suggestion to replace an English word is German. Which obviously does not make sense in an English sentence.

Hello,

I often notice that there are suggestions that appears below the translated text and they read in the target language. This is not useful at all when I translate to a language that I don't know or know a little. I need then to translate the suggestion back to a language that I know in order to understand what is the suggestion about. Those suggestions should be in the Translate "UI language".

Example that appears below a translation VI to FR with UI language in EN:

I would rather prefer it appears in English instead. Use the 'tu'; If you address...

The Kagi Translation page doesn't seem to recognize login status.
Even if you log in on this page, when you tap the "Best Translation" button, a pop-up appears asking you to subscribe.

I use Kagi Translation from Japanese to English.

I can't download translated documents on the Android kagi app, probably because there's no storage permissions in the app. It works if I use it on my browser (waterfox) on Android. So I think it's a storage permissions problem

Hi everyone. I really love Kagi translation... so much that it has now become my go-to translator. However I have noticed an issue, which I thought would not survive through the latest updates... but unfortunately it does, and it has become increasingly annoying, hence this little feedback from my side 🙂👇️

In the target language frame (the right hand side) when alternative translations for a word (or a group of words) are available, those are made visible by underlining the word in question. When you click on that word, you can see then the different suggestions. It happens quite frequently that some of the suggestions (sometimes even all of them) are proposed in the source language (which, you will agree, does not make any sense).

Could you please have a look at it?

Little update: it is actually even weirder. Please look at the attached screenshot. You can see there that the last suggestions are provided in a third language (here French) that is not even related to the source language. For the record, I am a French guy living in Germany, so I always have to juggle between these three languages (French, German and English). Maybe Kagi Translation remembers somehow the selected languages of the previous translations (here French) and uses that language for some of the suggestions of the current translation task, which is obviously wrong.

Hi, I just started using Kagi and Kagi Translate recently. Looks promising!

Just one bit of feedback: When I type in Japanese in the left box, after the first full line of text wraps to the next line, the font size starts to shift up and down with every new character I type. It's quite distracting and sure feels like a bug.

In firefox, when first-party isolation(It is one of Firefox's tracking prevention features. ref: cookies - Mozilla | MDN) is on(about:config -> privacy.firstparty.isolate = true), the extension cannot detect kagi.com logins. Specifically, the following error occurs:

[Background] Error getting kagi_session cookie: Error: First-Party Isolation is enabled, but the required 'firstPartyDomain' attribute was not set.

If you change background.js as follows, it will work.

u.cookies.get({ url: "https://kagi.com", name: "kagi_session", firstPartyDomain: "kagi.com" })

(I used Kagi Translate. Also, I'm not particularly familiar with WebExtensions, so I'm sorry if there are any mistakes.)

Also, when expanding the header during page translation, the display of the text for switching translation quality and switching to the original text becomes incorrect. (It's in the upper right of the screen.) This was confirmed when the UI language was set to Japanese.

Kagi Translate offers me helpful tips about German grammar when I'm translating English -> Spanish.
Suggestions are "Use Sie (formal)" and "Switch to Tú (informal)". The Spanish text looks fine.

Could be good if there was some assurance that "additional context" and proofreading and stuff is not LLM-backed. I like knowing that I can have confidence in features like that, instead of worrying whether it'll be useless slop.

Hello, I'm a heavy user of Kagi Translate. I have one bug fix request and one feature request.

One point concerns a bug: as shown in the video below, if I type additional text into the middle or end of the source text while the translation is running, it disappears.

My environment is the latest version of macOS with the Firefox PWA. The Japanese input conversion engine is the default setting for macOS. For some reason, the same bug doesn't occur in the Safari PWA on the latest version of iOS.

By the way, I thought the Grammarly extension might be interfering with regular operation, so I tried turning it off, but the bug persisted.

Since the additional text I want to enter disappears, I have to finish typing all the Japanese text I want to translate at once. Also, I can't select the text in the input field by dragging the mouse. Also, at this point, pressing Enter in the source text field will not insert a line break. In other words, the entire input field is not working correctly.

The other is my additional feature request to set the display language for translation suggestion descriptions to something other than English.

I find this solution incredibly helpful every day. Thank you, Kagi developers.

I still have the problem, that if I want to translate an English word to German, I type in the English word, let's say "creative" and Kagi automatically detects it as English. But Kagi then offers to translate this English word to English, which doesn't make sense at all. Of course I want an English word to be translated to German.

@Giorgio Thank you for resolving that so quickly. I'm really impressed by how efficiently you get things done.

Both issues—the one where I couldn't select all the text and the one where line breaks would sometimes fail—have now been completely resolved.
