Really a very good tool, thank you for that! You create so many useful things, it's great to watch you in the development.

Now to my suggestion:

  • It would be good if the standard output language in Translate could be saved. It is a bit cumbersome to have to select your own language again in the drop-down menu every time.

  • (Certainly interesting for later development steps) For students/language learners, a dictionary with spaced repetition mode (something like Anki) would be great, so that newly learned words can be saved directly and reviewed later. In combination with an AI model that allows conversation in foreign languages, language learning could definitely be taken to a new level.

  • A (browser) extension that allows you to send selected text directly to Kagi Translate or a popup that displays the translated text directly.

    longread

    • The output language should already be saved when you visit the site next time?
    • Kagi Translate is already natively integrated in Kagi's Orion browser if you have the ability to use it (macOS/iOS for now)

    Working on other things!

Try visiting !translate https://en.wikipedia.org/somethingthatdoesnotexist. The page appears blank but if you click "Show original" you can see the error message

I would expect the 404 page to show or whatever issue the translator ran into to be conveyed to me in a comprehensible manner

(This is a kagi translate bug but I couldn't find the correct tag)

Merged 1 post from "Unauthorized request, please make sure your API key is valid." on some pages.

When I paste in a chunk of russian text from a filter list, kagi translate stopps half way and doesnt translate the full text.

          I expected a complete translation.

Currently if the autodetection notices English. and the target language is english... it seems to be sending network requests so it's probably making LLM api calls.

While obv nothing needs to happen here

Merged 1 post from When translating from language a to language a. it shouldn't submit anything.

When you try to translate "motherfucker" to Polish and click on "Listen" button, TTS will sometimes say that it can't read it (I attached a video below, sometimes it will read it, sometimes it says in Polish that it won't, and sometimes it says in English that it doesn't want to)

TTS should always read exactly what's written

Merged 1 post from Kagi Translate TTS sometimes refuses to TTS swear words.

iOS on both safari and Orion has no sound for kagi translate TTS when phone ringer is silent. Turning phone ringer off silent results in sound.

Sound outputs even when phone ringer is on silent.

Merged 1 post from IOS Translate TTS no sound when ringer is silent.

Currently when you click the "speaker" icon to listen to the translation multiple times, the TTS is generated again every time

I would like to have setting (doesn't have to be tho, if everyone wants this) to toggle caching (server side or just browser cache) for the TTS, so Kagi could save resources, if user wants to listen to the same TTS multiple times

                          • Have "Cache TTS for x minutes" toggle in the settings
                            • Note: You can also make this not a setting, but always enabled for all users
                          • When enabled, and user clicks the "speaker" icon to listen to the translation multiple times. The TTS is not generated again, instead the same TTS is played every time
                          • When disabled, and user clicks the "speaker" icon to listen to the translation multiple times. The TTS is generated again every time (like it currently works)
Merged 1 post from Add setting to cache the Kagi Translate TTS.

It instead displays a completely blank page. Opening a weibo link usually leads to some authorization redirect so the translate website bookmarklet/function doesn't work.

I expect it to give some pop up in the above image that it doesn't translate these type of sites.

There should be a better rorr message for failing to translate a web page.

Or at the very least put a notice on the kagi.translate website itself
