I've been using Kagi Translate for a few days now. It does seem to do a fairly good job at translating text. I think what could make it great would be to underline words that can have multiple meanings allowing you to click on the word to reveal other possible translations maybe with a % confidence next to each option.
Let me provide an example.
Text in french: le diamètre du noyau du renvoi détermine le bas de l’entrée de remontoir.
Kagi translation: the diameter of the return core determines the bottom of the winding entry.
Correct Translation: the diameter of the intermediate wheel core determines the base of the winding stem entry.
This is a difficult line of text to translate because out of context renvoi can be any number of terms and the default kagi translation could be correct. If in my situation with watchmaking "renvoi" rather than being translated to core, or transfer, would in context be intermediate wheel.
There are a million situations like this out there every day where context is key and 90% of the translation is correct. The nice thing about an AI is if you are translating a lot of text it can understand and refer back to previous context or you can ask it follow up questions on the translation. That is not always needed and sometimes just a quick simple translation via something like Kagi is what the doctor ordered. So i think underlining key words that could have multiple meanings and allowing a dropdown that lets you select amongst multiple options would greatly improve the user experience and the users confidence in the translation.
