Clarify that Assistant is not completely Unlimited

It would be nice if there was some footnote for Assistant that indicates a weekly 250k soft limit, just for information.

Someone who's not familiar with how tokens work might get eager with cheap LLMs offered by Kagi and start blasting through their limits.

Yeah, this came up in the discord because it's not actually unlimited. It's pretty much unlimited for most users i reckon. But it's technically not correct.

Thibaultmol Is 250,000 tokens really? The free GPT-4o version of ChatGPT allows for around 300 messages per day (60 messages every 3 hours). Does this mean it has even less usage than the free ChatGPT version? (A 25-page PDF takes about 16,000 tokens, so only two PDFs can be processed per day, whereas I can handle up to three PDFs daily with the free ChatGPT.) I was considering getting the Kagi Ultimate plan for unlimited assistant usage (supposedly unlimited unless abused), but I wasn’t expecting this. I’ve decided not to go for the Ultimate plan.

There is a difference when uploading a pdf though, you're not actually parsing that as tokens. pdf's and other text files get 'text embedded' iirc which doesn't count towards tokens like that. I think.

This isn't even really a case of "almost no one will ever hit this limit" or even "we don't enforce a limit, but we may ask you to tone it down"

This is just transparency. It's honesty. Just put something correct and accurate in the footnotes, and then say "nearly unlimited" in the on-screen text. I feel better when the service I paid for is just being honest with us.

I personally kinda stand with the idea of what I posted in that one reply with the screenshot.
Where kagi just says "only x,x% of our users have hit this limit". But obv i don't know how high/low that number is, so maybe it's not great. i don't know

+1 to finding clarity around this valuable. Even this thread is confusing me around the actual limits. I only briefly skimmed the discord conversation, but it seems like 250k a week was their recommendation for usage, but do they find usage beyond that as violating the fair use policy?

Additionally, it would be useful to have more details about the fair use policy regarding unlimited plan users:

Fair Use Policy In an effort to provide services to everyone, we may limit interactions with our AI tools to 500 interaction per month for the Unlimited plan users.

How is this applied? Would this limitation be applied automatically to any users who go over the 250k recommendation? Would it apply to an account permanently once placed? Would users be notified of this limitation being applied to their account? I think that the answers to these questions and clarity around the limits are pretty important for allowing customers to compare the unlimited plan to other services and ultimately make an informed decision.
