Assistant ignores the provided url

According to the changelog, assistant should now be able to visit urls included in your message and use them as additional context. However, it often doesn't do so, and instead just performs a regular web search or just says "I have no information".

The URL should be used as context.

Is there a specific way in which a URL has to be included in a message in order for assistant to visit it?

fxgn I agree, the UX is a little odd. I have much better success when only giving the URL (which acts like a file upload), then I can ask questions about that web page.

fxgn The issue concerns the number of characters in the prompt. We implemented a simple heuristic while developing a UI for uploading URLs. When the prompt exceeds 500 characters (yours is 855), we treat the URL as text to prevent false positives, such as when you want the model to summarise or review text that includes a URL.

We'll have a better workflow for this sooner. I'll keep this thread updated.
