Dear Kagi team,
I would like to propose the inclusion of Odysee (https://odysee.com/) as a source in Kagi's video section. I believe this addition would be highly beneficial for the following reasons:
Aligned philosophy: Odysee shares similar values to Kagi regarding privacy and user experience without intrusive ads. To better understand Odysee's vision, I recommend this explanatory video: https://odysee.com/@Odysee:8/FutureofOdyseeVideo:0
YouTube alternative: It offers a decentralized platform resistant to censorship, providing greater content diversity.
Open-source technology: Both Odysee and the LBRY protocol it's based on are open-source projects, allowing for greater transparency and collaboration.
Incentive model: It uses cryptocurrencies to reward creators and users, fostering a fairer ecosystem.
Decentralization: Being based on the LBRY protocol, Odysee offers greater resistance to censorship and centralized control.
YouTube synchronization: Odysee allows creators to sync their YouTube accounts, often offering the same content.
Robust API: LBRY offers a powerful API that facilitates integration. For example, the claim_search
method allows searching for videos and obtaining detailed information such as thumbnails, URLs, and descriptions. You can find more information about this API at:
https://lbry.tech/api/sdk#claim_search
The inclusion of Odysee in Kagi could provide users access to an alternative video source aligned with the principles of privacy and freedom of information that both Kagi and Odysee promote.
Would it be possible to consider this proposal for a future update?
Additional suggestion:
I would also like to suggest that the Kagi team consider opening an official account on Odysee. This could be an excellent opportunity to share Kagi-related content, tutorials, or updates on a platform that aligns with your values.
Thank you for your attention and for the excellent work you do with Kagi.
Regards.
This should be integrated into this source selector as another option when a user searches for videos through the Kagi search and, as far as possible, I think it would be interesting to promote it more than YouTube to get away from the big platforms that live off of advertising:
