Thank you for your feedback!
I’d like to explain our motivation behind the placement of the model selector and web access in The Assistant.
Our goal was to make these features easily accessible. Internet access, in particular, is a feature we believe users frequently explore. In the Assistant, this is just a one-click action. We aimed to make this information visible, as we believe users should always know whether internet access is active, especially since custom assistants may have different settings.
Also, the Assistant offers a variety of models, encouraging users to experiment with them. This influenced our decision to position the model selector and internet access controls next to each other, as both affect the answers provided. After several iterations, we decided to place these settings below the prompt box.
We are aware of the challenges regarding responsiveness and limited vertical space due to the placement of these controls and the info message. We appreciate your feedback, which is very helpful as we continuously explore alternatives!
Would you mind sharing how often you adjust the model or internet access controls within a single thread? Do you find these controls useful while using the Assistant? What tasks do you typically use the Assistant for (e.g., coding, research)? Thank you!
