Amazon UK 8th result on searching "Amazon UK"

I used Kagi (on Chrome, Desktop, Windows 11) to search "Amazon UK" to undertake some price research on Amazon for work.

I was surprised to find that Amazon was the 8th result, on the assumption that an unbiased search engine would know the popularity of Amazon and liklihood that someone searching "Amazon UK" would be looking for Amazon.co,uk.

Instead, the first result was a blog about Amazon, then a website called aboutamazon.co.uk (and then other unrelated stuff).

Amazon UK should be at least in the top three results, if not the first, for my search term - considering the popularity of Amazon.

You probably know about the shield icon on the side? Click it and raise it for Amazon UK and lower it for the other ones.

But yeah, I do agree that some searches are very weird. At least you can

Havok Yes I use the shield to raise Reddit and some others, but this search was not impacted by that yet still delivered these (IMO) poor results in what was to me a very obvious first result expectation.

Amazon and other worldwide known brands shouldn't need to be raised (equally, I wouldn't want Amazon showing more for other searches)

I wholeheartedly agree! I've found a few, let's just say, weird results here and there. So I have started being more generous with lowering their weight and outright blocking stuff that just looks out of place.

I have an example as well. If I search for "resident evil", the first hit is Wikipedia (great), the second result is a website I've never heard of, and then the third one (below quick peek) is imdb.com which I've even raised. Below that is Capcom's website. For just "resident evil" it would be logical that it would go for the game before the movie in my view, or?
