Implement preference to select and remember default "Order By" function for future searches

I find myself changing Order By → Recency about 90% of the time presently when I perform searches. I am nearly always interested in finding most recent results as a priority vs other options, especially quick searches. If I am more invested in a search I can change the function, but having Recency as the key display factor is incredibly helpful and important for many of us.

Simply being able to save this preference within preferences would be very helpful to have it as the default.

I see a user going to their Settings → General → and then having a dropdown to choose Order By Default to be one of the existing options.

kf Hey Kf, thank you for your suggestion. Our current thinking is on simplifying rather than increasing our settings but I understand your use case. Will leave this one "under review" to see how many other people think adding this option would be a good idea. We'll comeback to it!

Thanks Luis, it would help quite a lot. I'm just finding myself always using it anymore and having the current default isn't as useful.

When searching in NEWS, the "order by" options are 'default', 'recency', and 'website'. 'Default' is the default, and can be changed only for individual searches, by clicking one of the other options after a search, which sends Kagi on a second search.

It's NEWS, so my choice is always going to be 'recency'. I'd like to eliminate always having to click 'recency' and do a second search, by setting my NEWS searches to always be ordered by recency.

Helpful as a workaround, thanks. It's not a solution, though. Still requires users to do a second search if they're switching from 'all' to 'news', which is asking a lot when we're paying by the search.

Yes, I often search for technical info or news so Recency is my desired default. I was surprised I couldn't find a preference for this functional setting and yet themes were supported.
