The "g" Kagi logo is confusing. This is a serious branding problem.

I see that you already have an entry in the FAQ about the "g" logo:

...but I have to say that the explanation given there is really not helpful.

I am a happy Kagi user, and even I get confused by the "g" logo all the time -- I think I'm on the Google site instead of the Kagi site.

And if a friend sees me using Kagi, they probably won't even notice that I am not using Google -- your logo and website appearance is so similar to Google's that they'll probably just think it's Google with a dark theme applied.

There is nothing that visually stands out about the Kagi logo, favicon, or website, and I think it is hurting awareness of your product. If i regularly forget that I am using Kagi, then I'm sure other people do too.

Bring back Doggo. He was fun! Let him be your mascot and logo.

I want Kagi to be easy to recognize. I want other people to ask me about the cool search engine that I use. I want more Doggo! 🙂

The favicon in the brower tab looks like a g on firefox. This makes it difficult to locate kagi when switching between tabs as it can be confused with other obvious "g" branding. It may be worthwhile to switch to a more unique favicon logo.

IMO the use of color in kagifeedback's favicon makes it look better and easier to recognize

Changing the favicon to "k" and the symbol next to the search bar to "k" from "g".

It seems like Kagi's favicon should be a "k" not a "g".

With a "g" it makes me question if that tab is related to Google. Or if Kagi is using Google in this tab.

I'm a new Kagi subscriber. I would think you want to differentiate yourself from google rather than confuse me with a "g".

The g is the most recognizable letter in the brand name. I have to agree with Kagi's design team on this one. So what if it's not a K, the dog mascot does the heavy lifting anyway.

I have a minor nit related to this: kagi.com and kagifeedback.com should have different favicons (even if only different colors, say black on orange for search and orange on black for feedback).

Although now that I think about it, how about the dog?

Adding a vertical line left of the g makes it look half k, half g. Here is a two-second mockup:

In what is both a testament to how fantastically great Kagi is and to how frustrated I am by the g logo, this has been one of my top complaints about Kagi over my past 6 months of exclusive use.

I regularly do a double-take when I see the G, even though it's not the same "g" as current Google logos. And okay, Google doesn't have a "monopoly" on the letter G, but Kagi there are tons of other letters.

BETTER YET, why not just use a variant of the dog as for the search logo! (I don't think I'll get it confused with Dogpile 😉) Edit: Wait, that still exists?!

Of course, I've read the brief explanation many times... They don't even try to make a strong argument in favor of the 'g.' It sounds like they talked it over and opted to just give in to the designer's preference. Perhaps there was a personal relationship to consider that they didn't want to affect.

Whatever the case, please take this as my official vote in favor of an alternative search icon/favicon!
