Kagi results page keeps refreshing on Safari when other tabs are closed

Not sure if you can see the video I recorded and attached here, but basically this happens:

I search for something on Kagi, then I open a new tab, then I close the new tab. At this point Kagi results page keeps refreshing and resizing, changing font size and then showing normally.

This happens continuously until I close Kagi tab.

Kagi results page should not keep refreshing like that.

andreagrandi Please share OS version, Safari Version and Kagi Search for Safari Extension version. Are there any specific steps to reproduce?

Safari version, I’ve no idea how to get it
Kagi 2.2.4

To reproduce it, I opened an incognito window, then I did search for something. Then I open a new tab, close the new tab and go back to the search results. At this point it starts flickering

ps: the device I experienced this issue is an iPad Air 4th gen

dino for me it’s 100% reproducible. I just reproduced it again

andreagrandi What are other extensions you use and does it happen with them disabled?

Vlad I can easily make a list of them later, but I will need more time to repeat the tests disabling them one by one. Stay tuned

Vlad the other extensions I use are 1Password, 1Blocker and Omnivore. I was able to reproduce this even with other extensions disabled (in Private mode) and this is also happening with the new 2.2.6 version of the extension.

p.s: it mostly happens on my iPad, I haven't seen much on my iPhone (same OS version, same extensions etc...)

andreagrandi can you please try unchecking Use fast redirect method. Should work for most users. If you experience issues, uncheck this option. option in extension popup, and try refreshing the Kagi search page.

Also, is the issue reproducible in normal browsing too (non-private)?

I could use thousands words to explain what is happening, but please just have a look at the video, it will self explain

I expect to be able to scroll results without ending up in an infinite refreshing loop.

dino it happens in normal mode too, I just reproduced the issue right now as we “speak”. I’m on my iPad.

I’ve opened a new tab and searched for something

If I click on any result, the new page opens. Then I close the new page and the search results tab refreshes and the font size changes

At this point I can’t scroll results anymore because the page refreshes as soon as I scroll.

At this point I tried to disable that option you mentioned and I wasn’t able to experience this bug again.

Does it mean I can’t have quick redirect anymore? 🙁

andreagrandi it's just a workaround you can use until we debug and fix the issue 🙂
