sefidel That's a little better but still kind of awkward for a non-engineer. You have to type out the full conversion every time (e.g. 4kg to lbs), and you have to hit "up" to reuse the last one. If you live in the terminal and type quickly that's fine, but if you're on a phone or you don't spend every day in Vim, it's a little awkward.

I'd like this for currency conversion, and yes, the same way Google's works 'in search'. I just want to type a currency code (say USD) and the USD conversion to come up.

I don;t know how Google always knows that I want to convert to GBP (likely all the tracking) but that's handy too. Maybe it's based on location and easy to pull in?

Yes, this would be a very important feature to me. I wouldn't make a search engine my standard that doesn't have it given it's probably the single thing I do the most with search engine if we go by category of search actions.

Two units in the search bar brings up a widget with the conversion which does it live like Google or DuckDuckGo

Nano Surely if this feature is very important to you, then you already have a dedicated app or solution for your conversion needs?

On an iPhone, you just have to swipe down on the home screen and start typing to convert between units. On a Mac it's easily accessible from Spotlight. And I'm sure all other kinds of devices have similar solutions.

carl Why would I if I have the browser open anyway? With a dedicated app I wouldn't have any less interactions to get to an answer than using the browser I'm likely already inside of and typing the units in the quick search bar. I'm sure there are various options in a range of qualities and with a number of limitations, but for my use case, which is mostly focused on desktop as well, they seem like an inconvenience compared to my current method.

The stock calculator app has a very comprehensive conversion mode. Otherwise you're also good with Spotlight for quick conversions.

There are great and convenient solutions for unit conversion for any platform, including websites you can bookmark in your browser, or a bang you can add to your search bar. I prefer Kagi invest their time in making brand new things, rather than reinvent the wheel.

carl Fair enough, but I do think there are areas where feature parity with other search engines is necessary to have a well rounded experience and that includes the typical widgets they offer.
