Show search query in title bar

When you search the browser title bar (and tab title) just say "Kagi Search". When I'm searching across multiple tabs there's no great way for me to see which tab is holding which search results. This is a feature request to show the search query in the title bar.

Adam May I ask if the description of the feature did not explain well enough what the feature does or you did not read it before enabling it? This is not the first time users get confused with this, and we tweaked the text multiple times and it still happens. What can we do to prevent confusion? Kagi is just doing what it was told to do - keeping information in the browser privacy - including in the title of the page.

@Vlad I found this thread as I was gonna make an identical feature request, so I'll answer your question. The additional explanation below the Browser History Privacy Mode control label would have told me how it would solve my problem, but the heading itself didn't make me think it was relevant to my issue, so I didn't read it. When I think "Browser history" I think of looking back in time, I think of my opened tabs as existing currently, not historically.

When I think about how browser history is stored, page titles and URLs, it makes sense that having private history would influence page titles, but it isn't an intuitive connection.

@Vlad I dunno if that really evokes the impact to tab titles. What if you describe the impact directly instead of naming the feature. Something like "Hide my search from page title and URL", or just "Hide my search terms".

That would help for discoverability both in the case of people who wanted privacy and people who wanted to make their search terms visible. It relates to the intent of both users.

dhnaranjo I am concerned that naming an option "hide my search terms" will provoke a thought with many users that kagi by default somehow makes their search terms visible or logs them and they need to turn on this option.

A stupider solution, but one maybe more illustrative of my idea, would be if you called it "No-one can find shit mode". If I wanted to hide stuff from people I'd identify it as a box I'd like to check. If I couldn't find the tab I was looking for I'd identify it as a box I'd like to uncheck.

I mean, maybe this is just a confusing feature. You prolly know better than me, but I think that URLs transmitted over TLS are encrypted, so the only risk to having query string search params is on a shared computer, someone actually looking at the history, but I can avoid that by using a private browsing window.

Like, I get the motivation of the feature, but I have all the tools I need to accomplish its goal already.

I like the "Browser Privacy" naming.

About the description, I think it's ok except for the part where you mention the usage of "POST" requests - it's just too technical. If there is enough space, you could add a note that Kagi will never get search telemetry, no matter what option is chosen.

Sorry for the late response!

To start, I certainly didn't read it fully because the description makes sense (at least whats there now does). To me when I want browser privacy I go into an incognito window. I think I might have thought it meant that Kagi wouldn't persist my browsing history (on your servers).
