Political bias in search results

I type "2024 US presidential election" and the results are nearly from all left-leaning sources. For example, CNN and NY Times get cited a lot, but not once is there a Fox News result.

I expected results from various top news sources, not filtering out right-leaning sources.

Roshan Kagi does not take into account any sort of political bias to rank search results. The only bias we have is towards number of ads/trackers on the page. Other than that results are ranked by relevancy to the query. Furthermore that query is pretty broad. For another query I do not see CNN so is Kagi now political right biased? Answer is Kagi has no political bias and if you want, you will always be able to find queries where a biased option is above or below another biased option. Locking the discussion as experience teaches discussions can get heated the moment politics get involved on the forum.

One of the biggest(and imo most important) benefits of Kagi is the fact that you can raise or lower domains so that they can appear higher or lower in your search results. Try it out.

But from what I can tell Fox is being downranked across most search engines whereas other right leaning and centrist news sources (even the non-American ones) are higher ranked. I'm guessing it's because of Fox's controversies making them an unreliable news source for this query specifically. Fox is ranked as often as other news sources for other news.

The bias exists, has existed, and is not simply remedied with a downvoting of some domains.

Kagi search results would have you believe the so-called covid "vaccines" are safe and effective, and masking works.

A simple search for the No New Normal forum comes up with nothing but links to a "disinformation" subreddit being shut down. Even the left-leaning DuckDuckGo can come up with the actual link. Kagi can't.

Objectively, vaccines are safe and effective and masking is effective. You are not looking for a reliable search engine if you prefer to source your information from forums rather than science.

I'm going to ignore that and you. It's my firm belief that a truly neutral search engine is one that provides the most accurate and objective information within reasonable doubt. Trying to conceptualize neutrality in terms of politics is self-defeating as it perpetuates the notion of politicizing topics. Politics itself is polarizing and archaic. You can never have a neutral search engine that way. In this situation, I'd argue that Fox's history and continued behavior would suggest it would act in bad faith particularly during election season. It has nothing to do with conservative vs. liberal (which again, are stupid concepts lobbing people into binary groups). I think it is correct for Kagi, regardless of the reason, to have it be downranked. If Fox can clean up their behavior, I don't care what politics they spew. What matters is the information is being communicated appropriately and their information has trustworthy sources. This goes for any news source, including CNN which has had a history of misrepresenting information, though far from the extent of Fox.

Neeva gave correct answers, based upon data. I do not care about politics, save the fact your kind, those pro censorship of dissenting voices (which you just now demonstrated, thank you), are essentially exclusively on the left.

I care nothing about right v left. I belong to neither party.

I can, however, cite many studies and observations, globally even, that call out your assertion. I care about data and facts. You do not.

Returning to the main point, Kagi is (assuming best of intentions) falling victim to the massive censorship and manipulation that has surrounded covid. But then why was Neeva accurate and superior?

And Neeva being "popular" is your own anecdotal experience. I'm a software engineer who has occasionally worked with incorporating search engine libraries and I'd only heard of it once. Anecdotal may frankly describe your opinions, as you have neither backed up your claims nor engaged in thoughtful discussion. Your first response was absolutely dismal in both regards. Regardless, I am not going to be continuing this further. This is off-topic and can't even qualify as a discussion if it had to devolve to this.

Please keep the conversation productive and treat others respectfully, in good faith. We're all here to help Kagi improve for everyone, and that can be hard to figure out - but attacking each other in the process won't be tolerated.
