teethtaster For iOS users with dark mode turned on, Safari no longer detects the correct background color / theme of Kagi. Here’s how it looks when searching: On the homepage: And even when signing in (which forces a light mode color scheme, but that’s a separate issue). In this case the tint color is dark instead of white so it’s still reversed: Just for reference I screenshotted a couple other search engines in case there is any confusion on how Kagi used to look / websites normally look:
z64 Hi teethtaster , we are having a little trouble reproducing. Could you confirm if you're on the latest Safari/iOS?
teethtaster z64 Running iOS 17.4.1 on an iPhone 15 Pro. I disabled all extensions and extra privacy protections to see if any of them were causing it but haven’t noticed any changes sorry.
teethtaster I probably should have explicitly mentioned it in my post, but this only happens when “Allow Website Tinting” is on in Safari settings.
teethtaster Also this happens without the custom css styling turned on, I actually enabled the css styling to see if it would fix the issue.
teethtaster Update: this appears to be an issue with the “System Default” theme as pointed out here: https://kagifeedback.org/d/3155-system-default-theme-always-uses-light-themes-theme-colour/6 In my testing you must reload the page after you select “System Default” for the bug to appear. Then it sticks until you change themes. The dark theme tint color is however much much darker than the new grey background shade. It’s almost black. Obviously not urgent, but I hope the designers will keep the tint color in mind when finalizing the design (assuming there will be upcoming changes since I’m already seeing so many people ask for a darker theme).
