Almost no results for "Delhi belly"

I've come across a search term today that produces almost no search results in Kagi, although there should be millions.

"Delhi belly" is both a name of traveller's diarrhea as well as the title of an Indian movie. In Google, there are 27 million results, and even if I put the search term in quotes, there are still >400,000.

With Kagi, I get around 30 results. It's so odd I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong - maybe someone can check if they get the same results? Thanks!

EDIT: Kagi image search gets 250 images alone, and there are even >100 videos. But web search, only around 30 results.

Kagibeh Kagi is about quality not quantity. Did you not find the result you were looking for?

that's what they claim. but have you ever tried getting them all ? Google won't allow more than a few hundred results to be displayed. They probably have more on their datacenters, but not for us to see 😅

Vlad Good question. Not in this case, I'm afraid. The plan was to skim the results and figure out if "Delhi Belly" is a term that can be actually used in German language. I found three sites, which just wasn't enough for my purposes, and then ran out of results too quickly. So I guess since I was explicitly looking for quantity, quality just couldn't make up for it.

Having said that, in Google I used "delhi belly site:.de" and got 10 hits out of 30 where the term was used in the right context on a German website. In Kagi there were only three (out of appr. 30) with no way to increase that number, even with the locale set to German(y). So in a way, I guess it's a quality issue as well.

I think part of the problem is that "Delhi Belly" has two meanings in this case, so there are only about 15 results for either meaning, which feels like almost nothing (especially when you're looking for a specific result set within those 15 results).

ak42 Yup - given the average quality, they are almost certainly keeping the best for themselves. 🙂

OT: How can I choose one of those smilies? When I click on "insert emoji", all I get is seven lines that say "regional indicator".

Vlad In fact, I tried both queries in both engines. In Kagi, adding the "site:.de" won't do much good, however, it simply cuts those 30 results down to 18.

"Quality instead of quantity" is an interesting proposition I need to think about more. It must work most of the time, as I've been using Kagi extensively for over a week and never noticed that the number of results returned is that low. But it seems like there are situations where the searcher is explicitly looking for quantity.

What do you mean by bug report? If I understand you correctly, the bug report is that I am unable to have Kagi return 10 German websites that use the term "Delhi Belly" in the context of "travel diarrhea".

Concerning quality over quantity: Let's say I was going to do research on New York restaurants. But this query isn't aimed at the best or correct answer, I'd like to actually see those websites and page through the results. There are almost 10,000 restaurants in New York, but when I Kagi for "restaurant New York" (without the quotes) I get 30 results.
