Add voice search

It would be nice to have voice search, like Google and Bing.

I know Android users already have speech to text builtin in their Gboard keyboard, but there is space to have something better with models like whisper (I'm almost sure there are better models now, but OpenAI whisper is already miles ahead of these builtin STT models)

If this is going to become a feature, please also add a toggle to enabled/disable it this time. I already click way too often on the firefox microphone icon on accident.

Value7609 Do you mean the mobile firefox's built-in button? I often click on it by accident too, but it's a Firefox issue. No search engine can change anything about it

Browsing6853 yes the builtin, but when kagi also has a mic button there will be double the chance to hit a mic button, so I want at least the option to disable it in kagi.

Value7609 The search bar of the Firefox is not editable by any search engine, so Kagi can't add a mic button there even if it wanted to.

I would suggest to implement it in the same way Google and Bing implements it, there isn't space to press the mic button by accident. It disappears with the mic button when you are already typing the query.

Browsing6853 yes that's still not what I mean. But I don't want another mic button which I could click on accident personally.

If firefox had the option to disable it, I'd do it instantly.

I'm well aware, that the mic button will only be visible on kagi.com, but with my fat fingers I'd still press that one on accident.

Value7609 can you make a screenshot? are you talking about the button on the home page of google.com? I don't think this is a problem at all because most of the people on Firefox will not go to kagi.com to do the search, they will use the search bar directly.

Assuming you are using chrome and doing a search on a smartphone.

Main page of google. There is a chance to press the button by mistake
Pressed the search bar, the keyboard will open, there is still a chance to press the button (but I mean, why did you opened the search bar in the first place if not to type on the keyboard)
Entered any character. The mic button will disappear!

Btw, I would disable the Firefox button if I could too, the problem with firefox is that they make the url bar too short just to fit the mic button there, making cursor movements with the fingers difficult (which I suppose is similar to your issue). But adding the mic button to kagi.com won't affect that.

Anyways, I see most of the value in implementing it for the desktop version, which is where usually doesn't have any SST service.

Browsing6853 the place where I would definitely accidentally press it would be on the results page search bar, i never search through kagi.com so thats not really relevant for me, but anything that is in _1cm near the edge of the screen is something that I'm likely to fat finger.

I'm not dismissing your suggestion, it's just that I'll never use it, so it is "useless" clutter for me, though I can see how others could benefit from/like it.
