The ability to expand and toggle these helpful functions allows for one less step to get to them. For UX it is likely too crowded on mobile leading to less unified experience, but power users who go all-in with searchbangs and keyboard shortcuts on desktop would rejoice.
Adding the ability to expand the ellipsis menu items into isometric buttons on the front page would lead to the ability to get to these features faster and expand the interface for power users.
