TheBOT I do not have the impression that the Internet lacks solid and secure e-mail providers. What additi8nal benefit do you hope for?

nichu42 There does not need to be any additional benefit, as email is a very simple protocol and throwing features that do not belong to it have lead us to current state of email. We are thinking about it in a more of back to basics angle, and the discussion on Discord as Zac mentioned is indicative of our thinking.

TheBOT seems like you use some dns provider that blocks discord? Do you use something like PiHole or Adguard?

I don't mind Kagi making email service (or aliasing), but I think we have enough good such services:

ProtonMail
SimpleLogin
Tuta
IDK what Kagi means by other services, but ProtonVPN and Mullvad are also already very good

If Kagi wants to expand, they should make something totally new or for those that good options doesn't exists yet (not sure what those would be tho)

There's thousands of email services out there and I honestly don't see what Kagi could bring that hasn't already been covered by dozens of other email providers.

Kagi Search is innovative because it offers something that nobody else is right now. There's still more innovation to be had in the field of search and I feel that Kagi's resources could be better spent continuing to bolster Kagi Search.

Email just seems like a place where money and time go to die.

I think the time spent on trying to reinvent mail, could be spent on making a good web maps app.
Mobile already has good apps like Organic maps, so it makes sense to build off that.
But on web there isn't actually a great google maps alternative. It's going to require A LOT of work, but I think that area makes more sense than mail.

With mail, you either go the proton/Tuta route: end to end encrypted. Which requires a lot of expertise in cryptography unless you're copying an existing thing (at which point... what's the point).
Or you go the Fastmail/Startmail route and just have a regular mail service Butt then you have to worry about storing a lot of potentially VERY SENSITIVE data... and oh boy the day that stuff leaks.....
